Well I remember a company that did make these a while ago, but I'm looking for a stock or a inexpensive replacement that doesn't look cheap but well made. If I can't find one I might look into getting some leather to let the girl sew together for me. Not sure about how buttons work but I guess they can't be to hard.
Gmpartsdirect, cost 32 bucks shipped. Redlinegoods.com, 60 bucks for e-brake and shifter boot (reuse stock plastic retainer for shiftboot).
I saw that post about the GM part number with GMPD, but was tryin' to see if there was anything else out there. I'm still thinking of just making my own out of leather cause with the short shifter I'm sure I will do it again.
I have a set from redline goods.com. Its black leather with red stitching. Its quite impressive for what I paid. Im still not sure if Im going to use it in my cav or not. PM Me if youre interested. Its the EBrake and shift boot. The plastic retainter piece needs to be replaced because the tabs are broken off of it.
I'm looking for something more stock then that. I guess I have to go the the fabric place and check things out. I'm thinking a black boots and silver stitching if I can pull it off. I will have to put some batting on the back to stiffen it up some so it doesn't just lay there.
What i did was get one, of the short black leather MOMO shifter boots. One of the ones off ebay that come with the adapter to fit directly on to a MOMO shift knob. Attach the leather boot to the stock plastic that clips in to the center console (contact cement or some type of good glue that wont eat the plastic or the leather). Now i don't have a momo shift knob i have a B&M Short throw shifter so what i did was flip the MOMO boot inside out and was careful to remove the adapter that is to fit the MOMO knob and the glue that was used to attach it to the leather. Flip it right side out again, removed the the shift knob (very easy if you have a B&M just unscrews, impossible if you have a 00+ cavy) and moved the boot down over the shifter, the boot has a very small opening where the adapter was, I able to get it to fit perfectly with bottom of the B&M shift knob, that part that you have to lift up to put into reverse.
AND Voila i have a very stock looking shift boot made of genuine italian leather that will hopefully not tear after a a couple years of use.
I don't know if this helps any if at all but i thought i'd put it out there as food for thought

Where is Cantley's? I would like to go to that place sometime. I went to a few yards the other day with Mike.
So you are looking for a stock shifter boot, or stock looking?

I might take the after market one that looks like OEM, but in about 30 min's I will know if I'm getting to keep the car or not.

does anyone know where to get one of the plastic retainers? there is a busted clip on mine and everytime i shift into fifth the enitre thing moves with the stick...even better if it comes with the boot
Junkyard, dealer, or an online retailer like gmpartsdirect. The plastic retainer is sold as a unit with the stock shiftboot. GMPD has it for about 32 bucks shipped.
I sucked it up and bought a brand new boot assembly from the dealer.
Nothing wrong......yet
.
I need to break down and do this at some point.....
