The tint job i got on my cav was horrible... It was the type that looks purple in the sun .. I hate it ... I want to remove them and have the black good quality ones inserted ... Should I try to remove the tints myself ... or take them to a tint place and have them do it ... if so ... how much am I looking at here.. =( ?

heat gun to the outside of the window, get a corner up and pull it off evenly while applying heat to the outside as you go, let em cool and clean em off

don't get silly with the heat gun though

if they've gone purple more than likely they wont come out in one nice sheet, your going to have a BITCH of a time with it.

DO NOT get carried away with the razor blade on the back window, if its got defroster lines be careful as HELL not to scrape over them, otherwise that one wont work any longer.

honestly, if i were you id have a tint shop do the back window if you even have rear defrost.. but that can get costly. i have a buddy that had a 96 monte carlo z34 with that purple old school tint, they charged him $100 to just scape off that shiit.

I took my tint off and i think i might of damaged my rear defroster, but oh well not too big of a deal i keep my windows clean with windex and i wash it regularly. Just use windex and a good blade and your good to go! They will charge you alot extra just to remove tint.

for the front peel of the tint and then use windex or a soapy water solution to remove the glue. spray it and scrape with a razor blade. and for the back peel off what you can and then use some fine steel wool and soapy water solution in a spray bottle. spray the window and then scrub away.

I used the trash bag trick, and it worked pretty good. Spray the inside of the windows with simple green, place a black trash bag against it and let it bake in the sun for about 10-15 minutes. it softens up the glue. Then just pull, viola.
