Pulling body harness...
Saturday, August 04, 2007 8:59 AM
Well I thought since a good amount of people are having issues going over 10psi with HP tuners I would run a 2000+ full harness on the body and the engine. I haven't found a engine harness yet, but I'm thinking I will just pick as a package since I'm going to use the getrag transmission. I talked to a local yard I didn't know was even there. They had about 15-20 J's together in an area. So I asked them how much for one. Then they said they wouldn't want to do it, but I could for $100.00. I think that is far, but I've not pulled a full harness. I don't want to cut any wires with this so I know I need to pull the dash and the steering wheel to get most of the wires. Then pull all carpet away and do what I can, but where do the wires go down to the fuel pump and stuff? Cause I would like to make sure and get everything. Please if anyone has any pic's of doing this I would be so happy. I know this is not going to be a 1 or 2 hour thing.

Anyone done this... I know some of you that have done the Eco swap have done this, but didn't like doing it.

The wires go to the fuel pump under the right side of the back seat, just before the trunk. I had to replace a bit of wire from there because it all melted and the fuel pump wouldnt power on. This was on an '02 fire.

Looked like there was a small panel that could be removed to take the wires out of the pump and everything, but I didnt have the allen key to take it off and have a lookey....

Id get some pics of it, but the sub enclosure I installed is mounted to the car, hardcore style...

Im sure someone can help more.

Id assume that you could just cut that part of the harness and re-sollder that section... Id assume it would match? Im not sure..

good luck!

Well I guess I could cut that part out, but I was trying to keep it all together just to have it you know. Since I want to run a fuel cell in the back I might not need the full harness. hmm...

I have done this before. When I wrecked my 02 2200. I stripped the entire interior harness.

Hardest part was getting the carpet up. Lol..

Maybe you could use mine.

Thanks for giving me some hope about this.

Any 2000+ body harness would work from what I'm told. Then I can use the 2000+ 2.4 engine harness.

Well hopefully swapping from isuzu to getrag
So I will be attempting to use my 02 2200 Cabin wiring harness with a 2002 z24 engine harness. Let ya know how ig goes. When I pulled it never really thought about putting it back in something.

May decide to swap to the 2000 + dash as well. Does anyone know it the main support (metal support tubing) is the same?

its not hard really..take carepet out and replace as you take the old harness off...as for the fuel wires..i just drilled out the rivits and the plug comes out..then rivit the newer part in..depending what year you are you will not have to do that tho and you can splice..only if you are a 99 tho..phil

The metal dash support (and the dash bezel and the HVAC/radio location) changed for the 2000 model year and up. I would bet the 2000+ support would bolt right in place of the '99's and lower though.

Was hoping not the one I have is major rusted. I believe I read a post about someone removing the support around the Hvac controls. Will try and check it out today.

You need the metal cage also! Cause it flops the HVAC and the radio. I've seen someone do this, and it wasn't going to work. Make sure to get everything.

Trey you can use the 99-97 engine harness fine. 2.4L
Click Here. You might find a LOT of great information.

Yea I know that, but I'm going to try to use a full 2000+ body and engine harness. I'm not taking to many shortcuts with the build.

Thats understandable, but if the 99 and older harness works fine with the 00+ you will be saving yourself a lot of work.

Well there are some other issues with them tuning wise. I mean just ask David about all the problems we are having trying to tune with a 99 Harness. Skilz is also in the same boat with the older harness. So I'm not going to deal with that if I don't have to.

What else besides the knock sensor would have to be changed to make a 2002 ECU work with a 96?

I assumed but need assurance. Would the 2002 ECU And Harness work with a 2200 BCM And Body HArness?

Well in theory...below should work with NO warning lights and NO tunning issues.
00-02 Speed Density Tune...auto or manual, which ever is needed.
You could use a 97-99 engine harness...so you don't have to play with evap. system.
97-98 would need the knock sensor changed to a 99-02 one.
97-02 ECM, they are all the same p/n
00-02 body hardness
00-02 BCM
00-02 gauge cluster and wiring.
