I burned a hole in the vinyl cover on my dashboard (had the headliner light sitting on it...light bulb got hot) anyway, I'm just asking your guys' opinions on carpeting the dash with sub box fabric. since the dash now either needs to be recovered or stripped down and painted. Is the vinyl hard to remove, and is there any leftover residue like glue or something? Opinions and pictures of this done would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Recover it in vinyl, would look worlds better than speakerbox carpet. Or hit up a salvage yard for another one, they shouldn't cost much more than 20-30 bucks. Unless you are really wanting to go through the work of redoing it that is.
Ya hit up a scrap yard definetly dont cover it in carpet. Or you've got a good reason to get it FG......
you guys are right...i was only toying with the idea because i had a bunch of sub box fabric leftover...
mine is done right now, mine was done when i got the car,it is red twead and the air bad is done in black twead.. i think it looks nice
carpet is for floors!

I vote suede

Suede is not bad but i used it in the rear window in the rear package tray and will never use it again, i fiberglassed it and covered it with black suede and it faded from the sun within months.
Had to do it all over which was not fun because i had a bunch of crossovers glassed in with speakers!
Ive been looking into suede myself to redo some of the interior and it seems that the automotive stuff is supposed to have a UV inhibitor to help keep it from fading as fast.
Was the stuff you used automotive of just regular suede?
