is there supposed to be a light in my center console that illuminates the gears on the console (automatic)....hope that made sense
if so does anyone know what type it is and how to replace it?
beleave so like were it says P R N D D1 D2 D3? Next to were you put it into gear at? Then yes their is a bulb under neath it. Beleave you have to take that whole center console apart bro... gl

Just take out the few screws holding the console down (I believe one or two in the front tray area and one in the armrest console) to give you some more finger room and then feel underneath by the PRN... indicators. You will feel a bulb there - twist it to remove it from its socket/holder. It takes like 5 minutes at the most.
Uh, no. There are more than that to remove the center console. 2 inside the center arm rest (down in the very bottom), 2 uner you window switches (if yours are there), and then remove the little plastic piece from the front of the console (inside the tray part). Remove the clip from the front of the shifter, then pull that up. Now you can remove your center console. It takes like 5 minuetes make, and is easy.

mine doesnt light up on my 96.. bulb may be out but havent cared enough to check.. i figured since its has the same indicatiors in teh cluster it doesnt lite upon the console.. since it already does in the cluster
well i dont have any gear indicators on the cluster....so im assuming theres supposed to be one....maybe this weekend ill do that

Yeah, there is supposed to be a light in there. Mine has a light there. I belive the bulb is a 194.
That 194 needs to be a wide angle.

I ordered a set of red and amber ones of these 194 led bulbs for my sidemarkers, so I decided to try one out in the center console shifter light before I put them in the sidemarkers since it's the same size. Definitely way brighter than before. Way noticible. I tried the amber one too and it shined yellow right through the red lens sticker so All you need to do is buy a bulb in the color you want. I wish they made these in green. These cover much more area than the other leds and are way frickin bright.
