Hey everyone... I have a deck with the 7" screen and can hook up to video game systems and stuff and I was wondering if I can get some ideas for a creative way of puttin a PS2 in my car... I dont know yet whether Im getting tyhe slim or regular... havent bought it yet but have my eye out for one... I thought about iether in the glove compartment or in the center console under the armrest.... I want this to be a unique way cuz I want my car to be completely customized... Thanks for the help and pics would be awsome!!
anyone know whats a better fit?
the slim or the reg?
I was just going to buy a used one when I get around to putting mine in.
definitely get the slim....
i'd put it in the glovebox, hidden away and get wireless controllers so you can keep it closed...
ps2 is getting old though... if you have the money, i suggest xbox 360.
Here's an idea or ya: The slim-line PS2 should fit in the door pocket. Driver's side or Passenger side. I would definitely use the passenger side, and then you also have a DVD player, if you don't already have one. I have never seen anyone mold one into the door pocket before. Anyone else? Comments?
SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking of doing this to my car. I was going to use the original PS2 and take it apart. separate the the cd tray from the whole system and mount that with the power button in the dash. the keep the rest of the set up under the seat. just extend the wires from the tray to the system and you're done.
By the way, if you are not comfortable doing that, buy a cheap used non working one off ebay and rip that apart and use that as a test mule before doing it on a working system.

I have a great deal of experience with PC and console games, and the 360 just has sooo many problems. Additionally, there aren't a lot of games out, and most aren't very good at all.
As far as grahics, the 360 has the potential of being better, but on a screen the size of what's going to be in a car, you probably won't notice that much difference. The 360 also makes terrible, terrible use of mip mapping - textures can look ungodly awful even on a small screen.
There is also the issue issue of additional heat problems, especially if the console is "hidden" somewhere like the glovebox or console. 360's can be so bad that they will overheat and glitch just sitting in the open, in cool air. Place it with it's back to a wall and most will have occasional problems. Stuff it somewhere out-of-sight in a car, and you're just asking for more frequent lockups and glitches. I've never had any problems with PS2's overheating though.
The slim PS2 will be much easier to fit somewhere than the full size ps2 or 360.
just wait and get a ps3 when they come out.
Not trying to be rude but I was asking for ideas on where to place a ps2 and not what kind of console I should buy... Thanks for the info tho
i have a regular ps2 in my glovebox and it fits perfectly
take out the passanger air bag. but the Air bag lid on hinges and make it so that it pops up...... i was thinking of doing that with a 7" screen

sorry, i gotta continue to think the pro's outweigh the con's since i played fight night round 3 and king kong and hitman....
those overheating issues can be tackled...
get a cooling fan from a pc and mount it in your glovebox door... that way, at night you have the green light glowing through a spinning fan......
ive never once had a heat problem w/ my ps2 in my glovebox. its been there for almost 3 years now and never gave me 1 problem
Gran Turismo > Fight Night
Gran Turismo > all xbox games
I've got a GameCube mounted where my passanger airbag was. It's a tight fit with it's lid but it works. I've seen PS2 mounted in that area as well. A fiberglass enclosure was made to have it fit.
Among the winners, there is no room for the weak

Aside from Halo!
But heres an idea.... I was thinking of getting one of those overhead consoles from a van ie; venture, montana, etc; And then glassing the Slim PS2 into it upside down, so the lid opened downward, but Ive heard that the discs like to spin off the slim PS2s holding clip. So im not sure if putting it upside down would be good.
well, be creative. you can place it pretty much anywhere you could imagine.

yea jsut watch PIMP my ride. They put LCD monitors in someones headlights. That was about the same time I shut off the TV and threw it out the window.
j/k but there should be limits lol.
Oh and sorry to be off topic, but what about putting the PS2 in the truck and figuring a way to mount wireless controll recievers up front, maybe in the glove box. Might be a bit too much but its a different idea. Although changing a game would be a waste of time.
I think it would be cool if you found a way to mount it long ways insde of the center console,a nd cut out the back of the console a bit like the part that faces the rear seat so when the tray is opened it slides out through the opening in the back of the console. Just my 2 cents.
