removing my shift rod

i want to cut my shift rod u know what the shift knob is attached to.....well i know it would be way easier to hak this if it was out and in a vice.....anyone know how to take it out i have a 2004 sunfire btw and its a manual thanks alot

I would try finding the directions to installing a short shifter. Thats gonna tell how to take out the stock one.

Punch a hole in a rag, slide it down over the rod, and cut it in the car. Much easier than having to take it out. Besides, if you're going to tak it all the way out, might as well replace it with a real short shifter.

right. but if you wanna take it out you need to remove the center console, take off the 2 shift cables, then there are 4 bolts holding it down

Sounds like a pain in the a$$ to me. That's why the tool gods created the dremel, and a Dirt devil hand vac.

Yeppers, except all I had was a hacksaw and a ShopVac
