?
That must be something new. So you ripped the vinyl off your 300 dollar dash pad to put fiberglass on it? First thing is, I really dont know what your going to end up with but fiberglass and plastic wont bond together, i dont care what you sand it with. Lots of luck with that.

It's so the top fiberglass has something to grab on to.

taking off the vynal and then drilling holes in the plastic, it will work. once you drill the holes in the dash, it gives the resin something to seep down into

can i just take off the vinyl, and sand down the plastic underneath, and paint, and it will look like the cluster bezel?

how do you take off the vinyl do u have to heat it up or...
Re: fiberglass dash

it wont fit right. that vynal on there has foam to it and it fills in gaps around everything. if you take it off and just put it back on, your going to see gaps and holes every where

Who would pay 300$ for a dash pad? Especially when you can go to pick&pull yards and get one just as new. There have been about 242384734532451124392194 people fiberglass their dash. I dont know how you find it to be such a new and terrible idea, specifically when I've seen some pretty average people come out with some extremely professional looking pieces of work. I think you need to not express your "knowledge" on fiberglass anymore.

Woooo bubbies.

When it was all said and done, i think it was 3 good layers. When I had it where i wanted it, i used some bodyfiller to smooth it all out.

Ok guys I get it. Let me defend my self for a min. First of all this is the first I have heard of glassing the dash. Really. There are no people in my area that have done that or any interior mods that were done right , also I am new on here because Im doing a 3400 swap in my 01 cav. All of these interior mods are new to me, Im more of a muscle car, v-8 guy. I have just now gotten into modifying cavs, So dont hit on me so hard. I realize now that I said some things that are un true, because of either my lack of experience of doing, or not being up to date on special processes that interior mods require.
We are a collision repair shop, not a customizing shop, All that is required from insurance companies is that we return the vehicle to pre accident condition and yes I use plastic prep regularly, on exterior plastic parts.
Again sorry for the criticising post, It wont happen again.
