Im currently in the process of painting my door panels 2-tone gray/black. i just removed the tape on my first door and have a bit of a problem.
Somehow the primer got in places where the paint did not and now you can see the primer (redish-brown color).
What can i use to get in the real tight crease areas with my black paint to cover the primer?? ive tried a slip of cardboard, but isnt working out that great.
any tipes suggestions are welcome
pics can be provided if you would like to see first hand
THANKS EVERYONE!!
also, just for your future reference.... Krylon Fushion will eat through a Styrofoam cup (within seconds) and a plastic up (in a minute or so)!!
SO DO NOT PUT KRYLON FUSHION IN A CUP!!!!!!!!! or your hands may turn black like mine...
i used the que tip... i cut one end off.
retapping it would be insanely hard and take forever cuz my tape doesnt like to stick!!! hahahahah
plust, i have to tape my next panel here in a short bit. this time i'll try to get a little closer.
jason, dont worry about it! i figured it out like 5 secs after i left you the message!! hahahahah i got it all done and in!
now, i do need instructions on how to remove the plastic cover piece that is under the steering wheel... so if anyone can give me the steps for that, i'd appreciate it!
thanks!!

Yep, and then a couple clips like the ones in the a-pillar/threshold so just pull.

ok, but just for clarification... im not talking about the part that goes around the end of the steering column... Im talking about the part that is right next to your knees when youre sitting in there...
well thats a different story. the answer to that can be found in the interior FAQ at the top of this forum. and it will probably take a day to completely take out paint and put back in.
I believe the part right at ur knees is part of the whole dash as a core.. About the taping problem i would tape a 1/2 inch over ur line u want. then just paint it then ull get the primer then for the second color just tape where u want the line so ull atleast have the primer gone for ur line.. If its just lil dips or corner areas that ur no getting paint in is just to take ur time and make sure u get it all covered.. As for the tape not sticking buy some Green 3M masking tape.. stuff works wonders.. i got plenty of it so i dunno how far u are from Logansport, but if ur close and ur ever this way lemme know and i can easily give ya a roll.. or just go to Auto zone and buy a roll for 3-4bucks..
alright thanks guys!! i was afraid it was that big...lol
oh well, ive got the time on my hands!!
thanks again!
i know Derrick(Twiztid Cavy) painted his by just masking it off and im sure he made like a small space around it surronded by paper or cardboard so no overspray would go anywhere cept back at the gun or on teh panel/ paper.. should easily be able to do that but pulling out the whole dash would be safer with overspay..
yeah pull the whole dash out its not worth all the hasle of overspray
