hvac relocate pt.2

Well i got the hvac relocated tonight into the glove box, don't know how many times i dropped the dumb little screws holding in the various devices, any way everything works but i have one question. I moved the hvac because i have an indash tv and a pioneer deq, the deq went into the hvac's old spot, how does eveyone make a single din fit in there?? first i tried to make a template out of plexi and double it to make it strong but it didn't work as the surrounding part of the template was too thind and eventually broke. so then i was going to fiberglass the cage to the eq to the bezel but decided since it was a glassed bezel that i didn't want to paint it all over so i took the pins in the cage that lock the eq in the cage and bent them to mount in the stock hvac mounting holes and screwed the eq in the cage with short screws, i didn't know it would have been soooo much work, how did everyone else do it??
thanks
