I got a set of front seats out of a '00-'02 Sunfire GT for $60.00 ($30.00 each). I was quoted $50.00 for the dash pad from an '03-'05 Sunfire.

you guys are lucky as hell. im kind of pissed about the whole situation. i dont knwo what else to do. im defineatly not buying them from a junkyard now. i know i can get a brand new Z24 bumper off ebay for 90$ shipped. but the Rears are hard to find some times.

i live right across from philly so i have a ton of junkyards open to me and if you go to the u-pull-it places the parts are dirt cheap. some places charge you 30 bucks for all you can carry and 70 for all you can drag out

It's not about luck, it's about the people who own the junkyards. There is a yard not even five minutes from my house. The owner is notorious all over town for screwing people big time. He has a huge house and thinks he's hot $hit. Rather than get screwed, I drive about half an hour to go to two huge yards with many more Js and very fair prices. As a matter of fact, I go there so much they tend to give me discounts on stuff on top of cheap prices already. These two big yards are so busy on Saturday mornings, it's not even funny. They charge you $2.00 to go in the yard, but a lot of times if you come out with something small they won't even charge you for it since you paid to get in.

Just like everything else, some people are just out to make money and won't bat an eye about screwing you. Some people actually want to run a fair business.

On a side note, were the prices they quoted you for you getting the parts yourself or were they the prices for them getting the parts for you? I know at the two yards I go to the prices get really jacked up if you want them to get the parts for you. Just a thought I had.

I dont know. i dont know if any of the 3 yards i called were pick and pull or not. i guess ill have to call again and find out. either way. 200 bucks for a Z24 Rear Bumper is outrageous. even if i did go get it myself its not gonna be any cheaper than 100. so im still getting screwed.

The other day I got a strut tower brace off a cavy, one that connects to firewall, and the drivers side carpet cover trim for $25, and right before that from a different yard I got a rear deck cover and the center console and brackets (for the auto shift and where the screw goes under coin holder) from an 00 (or whatever year the made them newer with 2 cup holders and the e-brake coming out of console) cavy for $40. Not too bad, especially for the strut brace imo.

I know how you feel there wojo...there is a really nice junkyard in my area with a lot of Js in it in pretty good condition. The only problem is that they butt rape you on every little part that they can. I wanted some clear turn signal housings from them which they have like 12 cars out there with them on them. They wanted to charge me $25 for EACH one...I can get them new for like $22. My friend also needed a climate control knob for a Grand Am GT. They wanted $15 for it...He ended up getting it new at a local dealer for $6 and they had it in stock. The owner of this junkyard also has a huge house and really nice vehicles. He only gives like $100-$200 for an entire vehicle and then wants to charge $50 for on little piece. It ticks me off cause I could really use a lot of the stuff he has.
