hey all
i have a 2001 sunfire GT. i have been wanting to change the interior lights all to blue., today i went out looking for the lights and all i could find was the dome light and the 2 "reading" lights attached to my rear view mirrior. i could not find any light or light socket under the dash (feet area) or in the glove box....... is there suppose to be ones there or did my car not come with them because there has never been any light from either of those areas.....
and also the lights behind the guages..., could i buy blue leds from
http://www.superbrightleds.com that come with the plastic twist in peices and simply replace ( how many are there ? ) in the gauges and then it would all light up blue?. or are the sunfires rigged with some stupid orange plastic that nomatter what bulb you use it will always light up orange, because this was the case with the sunbird i used to own.
thanks
The gauge cluster and hvac face have a red film on the back. That is where the red illumination comes from. In other words adding blue bulbs wont get blue illumination from the gauge cluster and hvac...you'll get purple....
damn.... thats what i figured
Well Im pretty sure on the 00+ that you have the option of switching to a Cavalier cluster and hvac....that would allow for the use of blue leds.
and the floor and glovebox lights..., is it possible that my car doesnt have them?
^catch me on msn....mah_cmos@hotmail.com
If your glovebox already has a light, it's behind the push-button switch... that will just pop out to allow access to the light to change it over...
You can also get a Cav HVAC face only and swap over (instead of getting the entire unit)

might have to modify where the hvac cover clips on to the unit. had to on my 98 cavfire
