Ok, so I'm starting up on the interior glow project again, and I'm at a stuck point.
I don't really know where else to put lights.... I've looked at the map pockets and they are at some kind of weird angle, and not really feasible for LED installation.
I have the following (all red)
*2 - 12" cathodes, one on each side of underdash -- need to rewire those, the control box I was using blew, so I'm just going to relay it instead. I'll probably order and install 2 more, one under the front underside of the front seats to even out the glow.
*LED's in vents on own switch.
*3 flushmount LED's under HVAC -- wired to stock dimmer
*Currently wiring in 2 LED's in the change cup -- will be wired to cathode switch; 2 at the rear of the center console for the rear cupholder, will be wired to dimmer (Sunfires have a fold down rear cupholder)
*Wiring in 1 4" cathode on the underside rear of the front seats
*15" neon in trunk
As soon as I get everything (re)wired up, I'll get some pics
I'm debating the inside of the front cupholder on the vertical wall, but I don't really want to remove the console for 2 LED's... maybe when I get a short shifter I'll hook those up, since the holes are drilled already
Where else would be a good location for some LED's on a Sunfire interior that won't be obnoxious for night driving?
wish i had a fire, id go look and help ya out
but the cav dash is so much different..
Speaking of roadblocks:
Saturday night, May 27th, Memorial Day Weekend. I'm coming home from my girlfriends house at around 1:00a.m. I get to a straight stretch and see the heat parked at a gas station ahead (The Heat =Police). My instant suspicion is that the gas station has been robbed as it often is by local crackheads, however, tonight the case was different. Now, at the time of me spotting the blue lights, I was talking on the cell phone....paying no attention at all, I continue through the small straight stretch going under the speed limit. As I approach the blue lights, I fail to notice the officers standing in the road performing a "road check". I get about 10 feet past the officers before realizing I just ran through a road block. So, I slow down of course and the state trooper runs to my car and proceeds to tell me to "get my ass in the parking lot." So, I say "Okay, sir." I pull into the parking lot and they give me the full load. License, registration, sobriety test, a good cursing, and a lecture about talking on the cell phone while driving. He proceeds to call me an @!#$ for almost hitting the other officer and an idiot for not being able to split my attention. At this point, he hasn't noticed my car, but his buddy walking around it shining his light in places he shouldn't be had. So, he asks me why my '02 car has no airbags. I knew at this point I was about to get the dreaded E-Test. So, he opens my door and sees my aftermarket wheel and my fiberglassed dash. He proceeds to tell me what I already know...it's illegal. So, he gives me the chance to explain anything else that I may have done to it that's illegal in Kentucky State Law. I say; "Well, I've got no cataletic converter." He crawls under my car and looks. Of course, it was not there. Just straight pipe. So, he writes me a ticket for:
Tampering with a safety feature
Tampering with an emission control feature
They spared me of the endangering an officer of the law. So, I know this has no relavence to your roadblock, but I thought I'd share my story about a roadblock.
Woooo bubbies.

Definately not, but an interesting subject none-the-less, you got off easy there.

lol, yeah, and easier to install LED's in the vents too. They sit lower than Fires, makes drilling that much more slick.
just throwin out ideas, but what about makin all ur auto lights n lock buttons light up (if u got em), maybe ur shift knob, behind ur 6x9's (if you'll even be able to see em), trunk, engine bay, dome light, under the front and back of front seats...
help any?
* * BIG FOR SALE POST * *
Manual tranny. manual locks, manual windows...
Trunk has the neon and I have 2 UV cathodes on order (had to break up the red somewhat
Seats are getting the cathode treatment. I could pull the door panels and put a couple behind the exterior handles (prolly get popped good by the local police for that idea though)... I'll do the map pockets while I'm at it.
Shift knob, yeah, that I can do... I'll get one on order in the next couple weeks.
Engine bay, hmm.... that is doable, and can run those straight off the battery... I'll draft some plans for that one.
Anyone willing to design and make me a switch panel that can fit on the lower left side of the dash? By the time I'm done, I'll have more switches than I know what to do with (all with LED indicators of course
)

OK, so let's see if we got this straight...you're too busy talking on the phone to pay attention to the road enough to know that you're just about to run over a cop at a roadblock. Then you have the nerve to sound like you're complaining that you got a ticket for doing stuff to your car that you admit you know was illegal. You are a textbook example of why the rest of us can't even so much as tint the windows on our car without getting the evil eye from every cop from here to Mexico. Count yourself lucky you didn't hurt or kill someone this time and next time try to use your brain for more than skull-filler.
Oh yeah...and on top of all that, you're post jacking. Next time, start your own thread.

Dude, you seriously need to calm down. I know it was my fault and anyone can easily see that. My only point is that it's funny to me that they were going to let me go without anything, but that was before they noticed my car. Why do you have to be so insultive? I know you're a mod and you have to power to, but seriously, there's no point to TRY and make me look stupid.
Woooo bubbies.
Quick fix, quit jacking my thread. K' thnx
I'm not sure what your comments pertain to my question, so unless you have a good suggestion.......
Perhaps my attempt to share my mostly shocking story about my encounter with a physical roadblock was taken a bit more seriously than I expected. No need to get your undies in a wad. I only posted because you used the word "roadblock" in the title. Why be so turdish? Everyone should've got a quick "wow" out of it and never thought of it again.
Woooo bubbies.
And had it been a police roadblock, I probably would have posted it in OT or AG, not interior....
i can figure out the placement of your interior leds while you make me a set of LED tails

How about one in your butt....... or not..... well maybe........ or not........ hahaha
anyways, how about in the glovebox?? that would be a cool place for some red glow!

two of 'em!
I'll keep that on the drawing board
Satch -- $$'s a bit tight (and has been for a while), so LED tails are on hold... but I do have a set of Cav tails sittin here for when I do get some $$$ in.
James... glovebox, eh? I'll see what I can pull off.

Well, I got some stuff wired in.. Gotta wait for my cam to recharge for some pics...
Justin, what did you use as your switch box?
Here's some pics of what I got so far....
Trunk -- Neon (day shot)
Trunk -- Neon & cathodes
Trunk -- no neon
Trunk from windshield (the small neon was removed after taking this pic)
Front from back seat (the bright spot in the bottom center is the reflection of the LED's in the change cup)
Rear cupholder:
Instrument panel from driver's window -- Not as bright as the neons that I used to have (the sig pic is about a year old), but with less power draw, I'll take it
Underseat (1-12" and 1-4" cathode):
I have a red 194 bulb in the glovebox as well. Next, I gotta go and clip the tails off all the zip ties, but it started raining again today...
