reset air bag light

well i have a 97 sunfire gt, which i converted to a 2002, engine wiring all of it.

well the car i got the motor and everything the air bags were deployed, so i got air bags, sensor and module from a non deployed vehicle. well is there a way to reset or is the dealership the only way. any help please thank you.

In some cars when the air bags are deployed, they need to change the module (one use only). But I don't know if it's the same in our j-bodies....

I think the code information would be stored in the BCM. (Correct Me If I'm Wrong)
The only way I know how to clear it is at a GM dealer. But I have easy access to that as the dealership is in the family.

check in the haynes manual, it shows how.

if i replace the bcm, with one out of a vehicle with good air bags, it should work. or is it the actual ecm that stores the code.

Maybe you should try swapping the modules just to eliminate that. If it dones't correct it then u know it's not stored in the BCM
