Valve Cover polish/chrome

i saw a cavalier (maybe it was on this site, maybe it was somewhere else, who knows)
that had a polished valve cover. 2.2 engine, not the eco or dual cam.
and i wanna do that to mine. but i dont know how to go about doin that. ive heard you can sand it down, 320 grit, then up to 2000, then wet sand and aluminum polish
so hows about it? will that work?

The stock manifold? No. But if you really really want to you can clean it up with a shot of hi-temp header paint. I think you can get it in silver but I know it comes in black. Not sure if it'll last though. If you're running a header, a stainless one will stay somewhat polished but they tend to discolor a bit. I kind of like the look when they turn blueish at the flanges but that's just me.
