I might be just insane from fiberglass resin but what do you guys think about a fiberglassed stock steering wheel. What i mean by this is take the wheel off and lay fiberglass or carbonfiber over the parts you want painted or to change the structure of it. Let is cure and then paint it and reinstall. I was driving to get more fiberglass for my project and i thought of it. any info on if its duable or not. thanks

You could do it, but I think your hands would wear away the paint. I dunno.

I wouldn't.

If the air bag blows, shards of fiberglass and resin will be projected at your face at about 200mph. Even if you get into a minor accident with your hands on the wheel, you'll most likely break it and suffer some severe lacerations.

I'd just buy an aftermarket one.

as long as you didnt fiberglass the airbag section and made sure to use a few layers to give it some strength you'd most likely be fine. as for paint wearing off if you use automotive paint and put on several coats of clear you could probalby go a good while before it started to wear off. this was a project i was going to do until i change my mind and went a diffrent route
