^^perfectly said oznium all the way baby.....My whole interior is cathodes. I took out 18 neons inside the interior and replaced them with 8 cold cathodes and I have more light!!!

places to buy cathods?

Re: neons.

www.oznium.com as said above. They are like $7.00 for a pair of them or so. Be sure when you buy them you get a couple of extra transformers. The cathodes are wired already and when you lengthen that wire the lights dim dramatically the wires arent long enough from the tranformer to reach most places in pairs like under your dash or seats so you need a transformer for each side and each tube....its only like a extra $2.00. I always buy extras in case one blows at a show. I have only had that happen once but good to have when they are so inexspensive.

I have ment to do this forever so why not now. I just took these in the garage in a hurry without a tripod....quite a challenge I might add. What I wanted to do is show the difference between cathode and neon. This is why you should by cathodes if you are in the market for lights

Here we go each time a neon is used first!!

1- 10inch Blue Streetglow tube $15.99 in my trunk

1 - 10 inch or so blue cathode in my trunk $6.49 a pair TRIED TO HIDE THE GREEN BEST I COULD!!!

LIGHTS THE WHOLE GARAGE!!!

Just to be fair lets use a bigger neon tube!!!

1 - 20inch neon tube $ 22.99 on my engine with hood up.../

*note it doesnt even cast light over the engine.*

*note it doesnt even cast light over the engine.*

For the money cathodes are the best bang for the buck!! Plus they are tough too...

I have one directly on the fuel rail and it takes the heat no problem been there for 2 years....Just dont drop em

how do you people hook these up there made from computers.???

Re: neons.

That is true but they do run directly off of 12 volt sources also without any modification to the transformers. When the kit comes to your house you simply grab the red wire and the black wire and snip them from the other computer connections and then wire them directly to a power source or switch then ground. Really easy actually.

...I have 8 cathodes in my comp and 4 neons in my car. My comp blinds me. Red cathodes will tend to look pink aftrer a while though so I went with neons. Kinda seem cheezy to me now, and for what I paid for them.. meh

actually...i dont know if they are doin this still but instead of the molex connectors the sent just the wire from the transformer with JUST the negative and positive lead, which was pretty sweet..that way it makes it even easier...i dont know if thats the case for everyone, but my most recent order was like that..

My interior is pretty crazy. I have two 12 inch neon tubes under my dash, and the glow is crazy. Got a good question for people though. If anyone has an 03-05 Cavalier here... how did you mount your tubes under your driver side dash? I have my tube supported from the wires, and secured in place kinda around the airbag sensor. It isn't really held in place by anything though, and there's no real place to screw it on or anything? Was just lookin for ideas.

well. this probably doesnt do much for you. but my drivers side tube is right under the steering column. i can see the glow through the gaps between the column and dash. its just held there with 3 zip ties. one to the tube that houses my main wiring. one to a piece of metal on the steering column. and one to whatever else was on the right side haha. its solid and doesnt move.

I didn't think of using zip ties... That'd actually work. Probably better then my loopy wire method, LOL

omg.... ... haha...i wanna see this..prolly looks like a jungle huh? and i get the same glow thru my steering column- and my 04 has it mountd pretty much the same as G cavy---cant see them either...

another thing is that cathodes dont have that same bulky ends like neons..

Re: neons.

well. my cam doesnt really take night shots too well. so i tooned out a couple of the pics just to show how far the glow extends. they're so bright . i cant even believe it. none of these pics do them justice.

im really really happy with them.

Have mine wired in with the wire method as well. The driver's side is a mess. I don't even remember where the safety wire is hooked up to. Here's a really low res pic of my dual 12" neons(have to use cell as a camera again until the 5mp digicam I ordered gets here):
