ok what im wanting to do is swap my gauge cluster in my 2200 99 with a gauge cluster from a z24 so i have an rpm gauge. but i heard that the mileage on my car is stored in the cluster itself and if i replace it i will lose how much mileage is on my car and will retain the mileage from the car i pulled the piece from. is there anyway around this?
can i somehow reflash my new cluster with my old mileage or am i just @!#$.

If I am correct your mileage is stored in your PCM the 98 was stored in the cluster so you should be able to swap it from a 99 no problem.
Thats 2000 plus.
What you should do is take apart the clusters, and swap the odometer readings...just take them out and swap them. Should be that easy.
how would i do that???

If your 99 is a digital odo like mine (think they all are) then you need to send it off to get reprogrammed. Its rather expensive if I remember right.
When you swap it you need to do the theft lock by pass thing. Aside from that they are plug and play.
If anyone knows how to reprogram the odo without shipping it out somewhere, I would love the information.
me too
but how would i swap things like mentioned above

^ you can't!
you have a 99 with the digital odometer. you can't just swap the odometers. that only works with the older analog ones. you either have to deal with having the wrong mileage show or take it to a dealer/shop and get it reprogrammed (for a hefty fee).
