it would look great, and you have to sand to give the paint something to adhere to, and primer is a mabey, but might as well just in case

Here's a pic of my old interior... used with actual CAR paint... and NOT fiberglassed... just sanded the texture off. You have to sand it or the paint won't stick. If you want the texture... I'd sand with 600 REALLY good... and use a scuff pad to try to get down into the texture. AND MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN IT VERY VERY GOOD!!! If there's any armorall residue or anything that WILL NOT HELP THE PAINT!!!

another way to keep the texture is to use krylon fusion, all you gotta do is spray

Yeah the krylon fusion and the triple thick clear are an excellent combination. Still want to do a bit of sanding and good cleaning though

I know if I did that in my car, it would end up cracked and chipped and look like hell within a couple months. My seatbelt would bounce off it when I take it off. I'd hit it with my shoes and stuff getting into and out of my car. It wouldn't be worth the hassle.

If you think you can take care of it, then it'll look good. I'd hate to see you get real frustrated though if you have to redo it several times and can never keep it decent.

So on that note, I'd recommend against it. Check my webpage and registry to see how I've done the paint in mine. It's a daily driver and has held up for over 4 years now with nothing needing to be retouched.

well if you keep the texture it will chip and peel....my dash also faded a lil bit....but if you want the glass look....i sanded it...be prepaird for a lot of work...sand the texture off, and i cleaned it with thinner...and i used a plastic primer...and then sanded lightly with like 320grit, and then when it was smooth painted it sanding the rough spots with 320 and recoat and then clear and did the same thing with the sanding....and when you sand your peices MAKE SURE you get ALL OF THE TEXTURE OFF...or other wise it will cause your paint to be rough and it will be really hard to get it glassy....that is another reason i clean with thinner cuz it allows you to clearly see the whole peice so you if you missed...but there is an alternative...read this post topic thingy here

if done right with automotive paint it really hold up well. i dont know how many times ive shut the door with the seatbelt in the way and slammed it against the painted section, and its held up better then any other painted surface in our car. and this is a car with 100,000 miles on it, the silver has been painted like this since the first 10,000 miles. i prefer that to they dye.

I've done the dye and krylon, ya it holds up great but It shows its wear in my opinion.. hence why I'm in the process of redoing it all yippy! I'm shooting it with exterior paint vs rattle can looks way better in my opinion if my dog didnt knaw on my digital camera I'd take pictures of the krylon side and the "real" paint side
