Ok, I'm not new to this site, I used to have the nick Da_Ghost (Qc), but I exceed the post limit and I want to go premium, but I have to get my Paypal acount to work. Anyway, I started to do some work on my interior and need some help. I painted the piece around the radio orange, and I'm working on the glove box panel (Shaving the lock and did some work to make it stop doing noise) The thing is that both the center piece and the glove box panel are orange, so I want to paint the piece under the steering the same color so it don't look dumb.
Don't have a good angle for the piece but you'll probably figure what I'm talking about :
I took the center piece out to see how to remove it, I realise that this piece is a lot bigger than I thought, it contain the radio and the glove box.. Am I wrong? Any help on how to remove it will be great. PS Yes I searched, but it's always Dash removal and stuff like that, but never about this piece... Thanks
Oh and here are some pics of the glove box panel :
This is the metal piece that I cutted, I'll have to remove a spring now cause it's lighter than before and just want to close cause 3 springs is way too strong for the weight of it now
Here when cutted with the lock part removed :
Here how it will look, I still have work to do on this one cause the lock hole just don't want to level with the rest:
I also wanted to know if removing this piece can cause any problems??? I know it's the center seatbelt, but I got a center seatbelt from an older cavy, one that come out of the bottom of the seat. I removed it cause I want to recover the rear deck with some vinyl (And it was ugly). So do it cause any trouble or it's ok? :
Thanks for your help

I just cleaned it, put some grey primer (had to clean it again cause the primer I used did some dust) I painted it with a couple of coats until it's like I wanted. After that everything was dry I shooted clear 3 times (I allowed each coat to dry correctly) That's about it, I didn't had any problems with it, the shaving thing is giving me headache but I'll get it done correctly with some perseverance ...
krylon fusion doesnt need any sanding either, or any primer
and it looks gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
It's a sunfire by the way if it change anything for the removal...
Whats with the RHD 'Fire?
danny i have to give you props for that paint job. exactly what did you do and use to paint it???
NVM....i see the pedals....seems very very odd that the steering column has a lock on it, though...
Amanda, I took the paint at Canadian tire. It's called Duplicolor, actually it's Orange Nissan, there wasn't the GM one, but that's just a little bit darker. The primer is made by Dominion Sure Seal Ltd. on the can it's say One Step Automotive Self Etch Primer. Cleaned, Primed, Painted, 3 light clear coat. That's about it. One side was not perfect, but I don't see it once it's installed...
Finally I took a better pic of the piece that I want to remove. Any feedback???
you have a lighter by your steering wheel???? never thought I'd see that. Some kind of smokers package i'm guessing.
I'm interested in this just in case the manual doesnt cover this, besides, your paint looks pretty good on the stereo piece.
thats where my cig lighter is in my car.....
thin is im not a smoker so i dont care about it.
what did you clean it with.....
i think ill be using krylon white primer instead will that still work.
you can remove the center seat belt housing but you have to cut through the tack wields. I just did mine. I also removed the child lock down things so I could have it all smooth across the deck. good luck!
that piece under the stearing wheel, i am pretty sure it goes ALL the way across the bottom of the dash. No idea how to get it out, i havent even tried yet, but i am sure it will be quite involved. Most likey gonna have to take out the dash, glove box cover, mid cover then radio, hvac etc.
you need to remove the top dash piece the side pieces the radio, the hvac u can just unbolt that and let it hang. the air bags (both) and the steering wheel. some of the top hvac ducting, and thats about it just follow around the edges and start removing screws, just mark them in a bag or remember where they go take about an hour and a half the first time to take out. remember to unplug the battery and disconnect your yellow airbag wires before you start with any airbag removal. most say to wait about 30 minutes for that as well.

even taking into consideration the keyhole in the GB i dont see how you guys think fusion looks good. there are so many globs.. okay 2 but still.. and just minor imperfections that, to me stand out... i thing the only way to go when painting plastics is to use dupont Plasticlean then coat it in Duponts plastic adhesion promoter. then get your paint code and but some real effing paint and do it it right.
