Will these seats fit with little modification?
no one knows
ive been close to getting a set of redlines , but keep getting screwed on ebay for them
and im waiting for the cobalts regular seats to get here
a friend of mine works at Lear/Intere(the places that make the cobalt interiors.), and he said that they fit with out any modification. he offered to sell me some, but i didnt want them. maybe i should get a couple sets and sell them!!!!

That would be sick to have SS seat's...6sic6, How much was your freind trying to sell you the seat's for?
hit me up with a price as well
I like them too but I figured they are ungodly expensive to buy new. Dealership couldn't even get me a real price. All they said was "between 500 and 1500". I also felt they were not quite as bolstered as I wanted so I snagged some SRT-4 seats off ebay. It was a lot of work but they fit. Just about any seat will fit with enough time and fabrication knowledge.

yeah , let me know id be in for a set of ss seats
bringing this back from the MAJOR dead...
i FINALLY got around to attempting putting these seats in my car. needless to say, its a LOT of work. the cobalt sliders are like 5-6 inches WIDER underneath the seat than the cavalier's. sure you say just take some flat stock and place it on the cobalt bolt holes and drill the stock for the cav's studs. yes.. we did that. pretty easily done as well. BUT..
the cavalier's 'tub' if you will where the seat sits is too narrow to accomodate the wide cobalt bracketry. and you CANNOT simply remove the bracketry and u can a cav's. the entire upper portion of the seat comes off with it. been there, did that.
also, the cav seats have 'pedistals' that raise the seat up out of the tub. the cobalt's do not. the cobalt FLOOR has the pedistals built into it. so thats where the problem lies. raising the cobalt seats up is going to need to happen.
so, were in the process of locating some c-channel stock to raise the seat up higher, basically just bolting it to the flat steel braces we bolted to the cobalt bracketry.
Keep us updated!! And post up pics when done!
I thought someone on here posted pics of the SS seats in a Cav....the blue and black style leather ones?
They talked about some fabrication but nothing like zyaaaa is saying....
Maybe I'll look for that post again...I was thinking about trying to find a set next year but dang....that much work?
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
That's the ones I was thinking about!!
Those would look soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome in my car!! That exact color and everything!!!

Was there an ass-load of fabrication to make those buckets fit in the back? It's someting I've always thought of doing, but thought it would be way too much work. Beside, I'd have to find full black or black-and-red ones to match my interior, and I don't even know if those exsist....anyone want to fill me in?
Waking this thread up...
How much custom fab was involved??
first off, we need to get one thing straight. the ion recaro's and the ss recaros are NOT the same seats as the regular ss seats i have, their completly different. mine are just the stockers wrapped in black leather with the SS logo. idk how different the undersides are if any at all.. but i do know the seats are completly different LOOKING anyways.
i was trying to get them into the car for the last show of the season but basically gave up after finding out i would have to have them sit higher up then i was hoping for. ill finish them up this winter sometime though. BUT, if they sit too far up for my tastes, the brackets i make and the seats themselvs will all be up for sale.
Wow, congratulations on offering up wrong information. They are the same. Cobalt SS recaros and Ion Redline Recaros only differ in color. The entire underside is exactly the same. You can swap from a cobalt and an ion, just as a sunfire and cavalier.
I'll get some pictures up. I had to drill two holes in the car for the seats, and cut the rear studs coming up. That's it for the car, I fabbed up some brackets and they sit fine.

wtf? your seats dont even fit LEVEL look at them!!!!! they dont fit level because the seat brackets themselvs are TOO wide for the cavalier 'tub' to do it right you need to put extentions on the brackets so the seats sit up around 2-3 inches higher. this way the sliders and such acctually sit above the tub where the size is much larger.
and if you had half a brain you would realize i said that the cobalt seats I HAVE are NOT the recaro's, there the 'normal' ss seats. and they ARE different. LOOKS WISE if you would have read. i also said that i DID NOT know if the undersides were the same or not.
theres TWO different cobalt ss seats, the normal stock seats wrapped in black leather, with the various colored inserts that say "SS" in the back. then there's the ones recaro made for the car. the bolsters, stitching and entire seat are different LOOKING. from your pictures it definatly looks like the bracketry is the same though. so recaro made the seats to work with the stock stuff.

Let's see a front pic thru the windshield the seats look as tho they are tilted toward the center.

Never noticed that until you said but I do now....More the drivers side then the passengers...
ok, that makes sense then. would it be possible to get a pic of the brackets you made and the underside of the seats? i would very much appreciate it.
yep, exact same brackets that are on mine.
thanks.
