I was thinking of using spray glue to hold my pieces of fiberglass cloth in place before glassin so that they all get layed good. Anyone done this before or is this a big no no?
I am also drilling the holes and glassin from the back side. So that should hold it from coming off. I am not using it to hold it to the door just to hold it in place for the first layer of glass.
Let me know what you guys think of this idea.
Also I have asked a few people now just want to confirm as to what willl be better to do.
Lay lots of smaller pieces of cloth or a few large pieces?
Thanx.
I've always just brushed on some resin to whatever I'm putting the glass to and its always worked fine.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
well the main reason I wanted to use it was because I lay my door flat when it dries and the wrapped edges always seem to droop and fall from being wrapped.
theres nothing really wrong with it, just for most thing you need to stretch it over not sure if the glue is going to be strong enough to hold it without getting in wrinkles in it once u add the weight of the resin to it.
as far as how bit go make the cloth, i make it as big as i can easily use it witout making a mess. for an area like my trunk i was using pieces around a foot long by 6" or so wide, when doing something like kickpanels or very tight areas i may use pieces only 3" long x2" wide. it just varies on the piece and how much room i have.

the first i have nver tried
but if your using mat you supposed to do small strips so it locks togrthrbetter
does anyone know of any place in michigan where i can pick up the stuff i need for fiberglassing.
Spray glue works wonders...thats what i used when i glassed my boxes in my trunk. Also for the size of the mat, i found that the smaller they were, the easier it was to put the resin on and the stronger it ends up.
Under Construction
what if i dont want the cheap stuff
