Heat shrink marks/bubbles in tint
Thursday, June 30, 2005 8:35 PM
I was just wondering if there is anyway to get my heatshrink marks and bubbles out of my tint. They are decently small but still very noticable. I just got the tint done about a month ago. Will everything eventually go away? Give me some ideas. By the way the bubbles are in the back window of my 03 sunfire. the guy said that he couldnt do any better because of the slant of the window? Thanks..jordan

i was told that spraying windex to the window before you apply the tint allows you to spread bubbles around becasue it doesnt adhere to the window right away. it made sence to me, tell me if it works tho

you should have pushed the bubbles out the day after it was tinted and being baked in the sun~

If you don't want to take it back and have them redo it, I think their excuse is just that, than try a heat gun on the outside of the window to heat the film up. Use a squeegy to work the bubbles out. DO NOT overheat or you will damage the film.

if they cant do it right they should either refund you money or they shouldn't have done it, i'd go back there and demand they fix it, our car's arnt' hard to tint, so either they are incompetant or shady. speak to the manager, tell him, if his ting guy is in capable of doing it right, they should pay another company to do it for them. dont let these guys screw you over.

That will work. Make sure you have it set to the hottest setting.

I don't think heating the tint is the solution...

It may make it worse, the adhesive inside the bubble is dry by now and heating the tint will shrink the area around the bubble maybe causing a larger bubble.

Only way i remember fixing bubbles was(I used to tint windows 13+ years ago) popping the bubble with a pin, soaking the area with windex or light dish soap& water in a spay bottle, and then trying to work the air out of the pin hole.

There might be another way, but that was the only way i can think of ever doing it.

If i pop it with a pin will there be any adhesion in it at all..because on a couple of my bubbles i can see bubbles inside of them like liquid.

don't bother, take it back... if you had a shop do it you wasted your money if you have to fix it... i would never try to fix it myself if i had someoen do it... i'd take it back, smack the guy who did it in the head, and tell him if he didn't do it right this time he and his company would BOTH be held responsable...

Have him remove the tint, and refund your money. If he cannot tint the back window correctly, including the dot matrix, then find a good tinter who can. If you lived near me, I would direct you to a tinter who pry could do the rear window in one piece, including the dot matrix, with no problem, with lifetime warranty.
