i have a 97 cavalier 2.2 5spd, im wanting to put a sunfire guage cluster in without a tach. basically the same exact thing i have just backlight red instead of white. is it possible and do i just need the new cluster? anyone know.
well there goes that idea! anyone know of a company that makes red backlight with black face for the cav with no tach?

it has been done. to get the cluster to fit you need to switch out the whole dash. as for the wiring, i didn't think there was a difference. but since it came from Shifted i do believe what he says. but the swap has been done.

ya i know it has been done ... infact theres someone here in Colo that has it done but his isnt a 95-99
i have a sunfire dash, door panels, etc sittin on my bedroom floor waiting to go in... i just need to get the cluster first before i put it all in
anyone know about the swap on a 95-99?
any special wiring?
The sunfire plug (that goes into the cluster) has 22 pins in it. The plug for the cav has 24 pins in it. I know because I have a cav cluster sitting in my room that I can't use unless I figure out how to rewire the plug.
Trace all the little conductor lines on the back of the cluster to the plugs they go into

Ok, new twist to this thread. Would the cluster from a 3 speed work in a 4 speed auto (sunfire to sunfire). And what would the differences be if any.
if you want the red backglow....why wouldnt you just put different colored lights in?
