Here are some pics of my first attempt at painting the interior. I want to know what you guys think. Should I junk it and go back to stock, repaint it a different color (like maybe a brighter silver), or do you think it's working so far?

I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but at least I'm a pretty color
Did you sand and primer this or just take it out and paint it right away?
Looks like crap to tell you the truth. Go back to stock and keep it that way.
If it were mine, Id go back to stock.course Im not a fan of interior painting. If you like the painted look at least sand it down to make it smooth then paint it.
No, I didn't sand it. A friend of mine told me that it would just shred the plastic, so I just painted it. I kind of think it looks pretty cheap myself, too. Alright, well- back to the drawing board. What about that color though? After reading the FAQ on here (duh- shoulda done that first) I'm definately gonna pull all of that out and sand it smooth. Aside from the need to do that, though- what about the color? After I've sanded it I'm thinking of going with a brighter silver or possibly a blue metallic.

check out my cardomain site also if you want to see some of my work...the interior is going to be totally different but you can get the idea just go to my registry for the link
Cool, man. I've been meaning to give you a call, but my kids are in town right now so I've been really busy with that. I'll definately be hitting you up soon though.

- dont paint the bezel around the HVAC/radio...go buy a new stock one
- sand and prime before painting
- paint evenly, it looks really splotchy and horrible to be honest
Yeh, this is my first painting project, and it looks like it. Looks like FastFyr is going to be helping me from this point on though, so don't give up on her yet. That silver actually IS primer to tell the truth. I used it on the grill and it looks great, just need some practice spraying larger surfaces.

colour could be killer but you just need to put some more time into it that is all...
we all started there my first interior was ass he he he but looks good now ...
good luck and it takes time I spent 20 hours wet sanding in total not all at once he he on my dash so yeah... good luck dude
I like my women like I like my cars,Topless and Shaven.
Ewww. First off, when you remove the piece of plastic you want to paint, Clean it thoughly with a strong Windex, that will degrease it, and give it a dull look.
I didnt sand mine when i did it, and it came out great.
What paint did you use?
I used one made for plastics.

I used Krylon X-metals. The silver is a primer/basecoat, and the blue is a translucent topcoat. After meeting up with FastFyre and talking it over, I've got an idea where I'm going with it now. That's all getting sanded smooth and primered; I'm probably going back to stock with the vents; I'll either be fiberglassing the radio bezel or filling the hole under it with one of those carbon fiber pieces somebody on here was working on not long ago. I'll have to search for it when I'm ready. We'll also be fiberglassing the carpetted area on the doors with some sort of hole for the speakers, and I'll sand and paint the lower part of the door, leaving the top half of the arm rest and above stock for now (that's an early idea, I haven't decided for sure- we may end up painting the whole door, or fiberglassing some more of it depending on how its looking in progress). I really appreciate the feedback, and like I said before, I've enlisted some help so don't give up on her yet
