When shopping for racing seats i see, universal base bracket, universal sliders. and custom fit brackets. Now what the hell? Do i need the base bracket? Or do the universal sliders serve as the base bracket also? HELP the nieve seat customer!

The sliders attatch to the bottom of the seat itself, the bracket genrally attatches to the floorboard, then to the sliders. Universal means you're probably goign to have to fabricate mouts and mount them to the floor.. specific fits mean they'll bolt into your J as it sits now.

99% of seats come with "universal sliders"... You have to have some sort of bracketing to connect those "sliders" to your stock seat bolts on the floor. Some brands have brackets specifically made for the Js... while for other seats you will have to custom make some.

the "universal brackets" I usually throw away.. I just make mounts for them to sit on the factory brackets..

This probably goes without saying, but keep in mind that one of the most important areas of your car is the connection between the seat and the floor. If that connection breaks, and you get into an accident, you're dead.

I would have a professional do this and make damn sure that connection is secure. Making custom stuff yourself just sounds dangerous to me - but I have NO idea what I'm talking about. I stick to making stuff to make your car pretty.
