How much would it cost to get the JDM righthand drive for a cavalier?, streetline doesnt quote a price, if i were to buy that would i need any other parts?
if your worried about the price of it....then its more than you can afford...let me tell ya now....its not cheap at all
Well, look at it this way... Your dash has to be redone, connections, radio, steering wheel and internal controls, pedals, engine connections, shifter, cables, consoles, etc.... Professionally, you are probably looking at $3000+
I was quoted $5,000 for the entire job by a customs shop......I honestly don't think thats that bad considering how much work has to be done.
I just read an article about importing vehicles from Japan and other countries in Import Tuner today at work... actually. It's alot of work, it's not as simple as purchasing the vehicle and shipping it over then liscensing it. You have to have the vehicle first shipped over here after it's paid for which is genrally 1/2 the cost if not more of the vehicle (ive heard). And as I mentioned then comes the headaches and pain in the rear. You have to clear this vehicle COMPLETELY to U.S. Customs standards as well as D.O.T. standards. Which genrally implys meeting the US emissions standards and airbag requirments, then if the vehicle's NOT on the import list of vehicles that have been pre-approved... it'll take time for it to make it's way there, but easier than importing some High performance Imports (Silvias, Evo's, WRX's, ext.. High HP and performance cars), It's even Harder to import vehicles that are considered "Race cars" basically track cars. they ACTUALLY have a LIMIT on the miles per year that you can drive them. 2500 miles per year is all that is permitted. Which is crazy as hell. but yeah I have the article in my Import tuner, they might have it online somewhere.. good luck! I'd rather jsut buyt he firewall & all teh stuff and do it myself. LMFAO but i wont be doing that w/ this cavy. LOL

Exactly ^^^. Ask Chris Laverty about Customs. They would only allow his rhd project in the states if it was cut in half.

I dont think he has those parts anymore
You know... I'm all for people going out of their way to do something just to say it's been done, but what are you going to do with it? Deliver mail? Most post offices provide the car...
LOL , if he tricked it out, woudl be one hawt mail carrier vehicle! :O

I know you are trying to be clever, but in all honesty, you can say the same thing about ANY mod. Just because this one takes longer and is more involved doesn't make it any less attractive... In fact, the whole point of show cars is the rarity and how far you go out of your way to create a 'one-off' vehicle... There are only 3 J's that I know of with RHD... That's a pretty good group to be in, if you ask me...
IMHO... I LOVE the RHD conversion.. it's the closest to in which one will ever own a Yota in the states, and like Cav Fire Said, it sets your cavy/fire apart from the rest of the Cavs here in the US... RHD, that's all you gotta say. I would love to own a RHD Cavy, but I wont be going that route with my Z.. mostly b/c of all the work Im putitng into the interior as is.

now if you go to the drive-thru, do you go in reverse?
i'd be so screwed trying to shift lefty and drive righty. it looks cool as hell though. we just sold a rhd cherokee to a mail lady at my job and i just had to stare at it for a little while. it's just so cool to see it every once in a while. i love rare things, especially when it comes to cars.

That cav has photoshopped rims.
Yes becasue we are selling the rims new in the box never used on the car. At the same time we are looking for TRD Tour Sport rims for it, if we find them before the car is sold we will trade out the rims.
