Has anyone ever painted the stock steering wheel on the 2000 cavalier?
I was thinking about doing this as well but I didnt know how well it would turn out. The wheel is used alot obviously so I dunno if the paint would last or even stick. Ill prob just get a new wheel.
go ahead and paint it man, cuz if it turns out like crap, thats just more incentive to buy an aftermarket one
it will wear off and look like crap real fast....if it sticks at all..the steering wheel is vinyl so chances are you MIGHT be able to get away with cleaning it VERY VERY VERY WELL and then using a vinyl dye which will still probably wear off....but whatever you do ...do not paint it...it will be tacky and you will hate driving it will be so bad
you may just want to get a steering wheel cover for it, sorry to say. you cant paint it. you might be able to dye it, but that may not last long. you COULD get an aftermarket wheel, but then you have no airbag, and will get screwed over if you get in a wreck. i may end up just getting a cover for mine

What are those buttons you have there on your wheel, I like them... lol
Those are the radio controls which came on some of the older Sunfires. I think they were available up until 98 or so.
If you want to put the effort in, you can get a leather wrapped GT wheel, strip off the stock leather, and recover it with the coloured leather of your choice.
This is what I did.
It was a lot of work, but I'm happy with the result and have never seen any other one like it in a j-body.

Sorry... you've got a Cavalier. You can do the same thing but you'll need to start with a leather wrapped Toyota Cavalier wheel. Sunfire people have much easier access to the GT wheels.
how would just dyin the line in the center and the boqtie look?? Ive thought about doin that just to add a lil something to the wheel..
See Jason at
A Plus Performance. He's got Wheelskins in different colors and styles. Not a tacky cover, but real leather with heavy stitching in either solid one color, two tone, or two tone with perforated leather. Here's mine.
