I'm not saying anything you did was wrong^^^^^. I wish I had a vise, too.
I just took as little as possible apart. It's cold outside.
It's funny you say that about the different seat heights, cuz I can tell they are different. I think it's only cuz I was looking for it though. I don't think anyone else will notice.
I'm gonna leave my pass side alone, cuz I like the way it slides forward when you tilt it up. Makes it easier to get the kid in and out of her car seat.
Yea, i have an idea on how to do the passenger side and still have back seat access, but i need an extra driver side bracket to try it.
Def let me know if you get it to work, cuz I really don't want to lose my sliding pass seat.
I did this mod this afternoon, i figured it would be alittle different i mean the spacers cant be much more than a half inch max, but man was i wrong. pulled my seat out removed the spacers and stuck it back in and sat down and immediatly it felt different, like worlds different, before when i was driving and would take a corner i would get bounced around alot, now its not so bad, my arm rests on the actual armrest, my other arm rests on the door nicely its like driving a different car, only thing i have an issue with is i had to cut thru the first 2 welds on the smallers spacers before i could get them to break loose, sawzall dont leave home without it.
J~
Just did this my self about 3 mins ago
BEST MOD EVER!!!!!! MY HEAD DONT RUB !!!!
HAPPY DANCE!!
From gettin off my arse to start this to getting back installed took less than 20 min.
I used the chisle and hammer techique and it poped right off .
thanks a million for the how-to
this is awesome that people are using my write-up. I love this mod, now if gas wasn't so expensive, id be driving the d@mn car instead of sitting here and talking on the internet
For real! gas is expensive i been riding my motorcycle lately
What kind of bike you have? I swear I'm gonna get one right after college.
i got a 04 Honda Shadow Saber 1100 its candy apple red. had the crotch rocket a turbo'd one too Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo. it was fun but now i love my cruiser sooo comfortable.
i used a driver side seat bracket outta another cavi for the passenger side and did the same and i have both lowered seats and the passenger still lsides forward when u pull the little back lever...excellent write up
I just did this to my 01 cav coupe. I'm 6'7", and i immedately noticed a difference. More headroom is a great thing being this tall. Thanks for the write-up and photos, they helped alot.
I just did this today..I would have never even thought to do it without seeing this thread and I have been complaining about how high the seats are. My left leg would start going numb after driving for a while cause the seat was so uncomfortable and high up, now its great. One thing i didn't realize was the wire going to the seat belt and I almost yanked it out of the floor trying to get the seat out. Great write up.

I'm glad this showed up i was asking questions about this
a little while ago but i also wanted to move the seats back
a few inches. People suggested steel tubing to mount
the seats to. Any other ideas. Thanks
there isn't really any room on the stock bracket to adjust it at the same height however you could fabricate something that attaches to the stock bracket which will allow you to move it back simply weld some new metal on there and drill the holes where you want them.
