wiring for horn on aftermarket wheel

I need to wire up my horn on my aftermarket wheel. I've had it unhooked for about 9 months since I put the wheel in, but now I need an inspection, and I need it wired up. I searched already, but every post on the subject said nothing about how to do it. any help is appreciated

You'll need the spring that was attached to the airbag.

That hooks up to the one wire on the new wheel button for the horn.

Ground the other wire on one of the bolts and you should be set.

If it still won't work check the fuse.

ok, I'll have to check my airbag assembly when i get home. i remember that spring, but shouldnt there be a wire coming out from the column that is connected to the airbag? i took off my stearing wheel at lunch and didnt see any wires in there

ok, i have the spring part, and the whole steering wheel off, but now, when ever i so much as touch the spring in that slot where it goes, it makes the horn go off, and i dont have the wire hooked to anything. so as soon as it touches any metal, the horn goes off until you pull the metal away from it.

so my question is, how do i keep that spring from not touching it all the time and the horn staying on? and also, if it just needs metal contact to go off, whats the purpose of the wires?

really need help. thanks

you can just buy a horn relay that sorta bolts onto any steering wheel. they have a circular piece of metal that tensions down to the proper size for any wheel above 1" grip diameter. then just wire it. these should be available at any auto part store. you could also put a button switch anywhere on the dash so long as it is easily accessable and that should work
