OK, here is the prototype - I am going to make some very minor adjustments and start the GP later this week. Cost will be in the 20-30 dollar range (I have to pay 3 separate vendors to get the components for this part). This panel pops in and out with ease so you can see your lights at night. I see from the pics that I could have pushed it in a little better in the top right, but this thing sits in it's slot fine and will not fall out. To get it out, you simply pull any HVAC knob out and pull it - it's about 1/8" thick.
The bottom pic sucks, but gives you an idea how it looks. The clear vinyl does not detract from the CF at all. I will release a 95-02 version as soon as the gp hits a certain number, say 4 or 5.
The only changes that I plan to make are to leave about 1/16" border around the edges so that the vinyl does not go all the way to the edge. I had a little trouble with the vinyl getting peeled, but it was fine once I trimmed it. You will not be able to see the difference as the vinyl pretty much blends right in.
By the way, the little car icon under the third knob is an actual Cav silhouette! And I know that the grain of the CF in my radio face does not match - I am still working on tightening up the radio face template...

Just sent Dave the PayPal payment - it will take a couple of days for my E-Check to clear, which will give me the time I need to take a few more pics and start the GPs.

where did you get your hvac knobs?
^^^ I dont remember the company that makes them, but they are available on their website, and I think they are also on ebay now and then. Those knobs are pretty expensive if I remember right.....like $75 maybe?
