Air Fuel Gauge installed, minor problems..

I installed my air/fuel ratio gauge yesterday, its an autometer c/f style.

I looked over many instructions on the org with the search to make sure it was wired properly on the purple wire between the connector and the PCM comming from the o2 sensor on the header.

It is wired just like a picture I saw in a post from Event a long time ago. Since the gauge has been installed, I got a check engine light from the o2 sensor, I got it cleared at the dealer, but I was expecting it to come back, and it did.

The wire is soddered and covered properly, I'm just wondering why this has happened. Also, after driving around with the gauge a little bit, it doesn't quite get to rich when its full throttle, it seems to stay around the middle of stoich during regular driving, and while i shift gears it drops to lean and then back to mid stoich.

Any help would be appreciated.

all i can tell you is make sure theres a good connection... those sensor wires need to have very little resistance or screwing up will happen! As for the non-richness... i dunno what to say... but the lights should bounce back and forth a lot while cruising.. go rich at WOT, and go COMPLETELY lean when you aren't on the pedal (like when using backpressure to slow on a hill)

what color wire did you hook the purple wire coming off the gauge going to the o2 sensor to?

hey Kris, I got that same exact gauge not too long ago... I'm sure you've hooked everything up correctly but just incase, here's the box directions...

in wot the gauge doesn't hit the green led's at all??? if the gauge seems sluggish, it maybe time for a new o2 sensor... is it still the original one???

Viral: It's a very small wire. I found it REALLY hard to solder. I'd say check the connection. I just installed mine no problems. Check the wire that you ran to the gauge and make sure there's no breaks in the insulation. That wire can't have an open in it anywhere or it'll affect what the PCM sees from the sensor. I'd say just replace the sensor, but that's a little expensive. I'd wait until all other options are exhausted before doing that.

redecocav: If you're asking how to hook it up, I wrote a how-to on it. If your gauge is an Autometer (assuming they're all the same, mine is Ultra-Lite) Red is +12v, Black is Ground, and Purple is the signal spliced from the O2 Sensor. i already have mine installed. i was just making sure he had purple to purple and not another one causing a bad signal or something.
