ok i spent a good 2 hours sanded one peice of the hatches dash. i primed it up coated 3 coats paint and 2 coats clear..... when all is said and done i can see the pattern of my sanding.. i ended with 800 grit so wtf... anyways my question is can i use an epoxy filler on entire dash and then sand that with 800 grit and just prep/paint that? any info would be helpful and this filler would def make it faster. thanks!
if you have deep gouges, and then sand with 800 grit, your going to end up with.... smooth gouges. start at a rougher grit and work all the scratches out, then move up to the next grit. just sounds like you rushed moving up to a higher grit. and honestly there is no need to do 800 grit. the highest grit i used was 400 and that was only when wetsanding the primer.
start off with 120 or so till all the texture is gone. then move up to 180 then 220 or so, then is should be ready to prime.

yeah after the 220 sand use a nice high build primer and then when thats dry use a guide coat over it and wet sand the guide coat of with a 400+ grit
