This is the bubbling I was talking about in the other thread. I have bought 2 of these from a company called msispeed on ebay. They have no phone number if I remember correctly - I foolishly bought a second set from them since they are pretty much the only game in town. I was hoping the first time was a fluke. Here is the result.
I am NOT flaming this company - I realize that I may just be unlucky and hopefully the rest of you will have better luck - just beware. If anyone gets a chance to talk to them, please let me know so I can give them a chance to make this right. No one likes to be attacked without a chance to defend themself.
As a Cav mod seller myself, I think everyone should have a phone number listed on their web site (not just an answering machine that never gets checked). If I had the option to return this piece of crap, I would.
Now off to Speedhut to get something with some customer service backing it!

Would the effectiveness or looks of the gauges be harmed if the film was removed? Seems to me it might just be protective. How does it look without the film?

I thought that on the last set.
Unfortunately it is a hardened plastic that can not be separated from the rest without destroying it.
It looks like its just that thin stuff like they put on your watch or cell phone that you peel after you buy it, but its not. It is the actual face.
Every time I get in my car, it makes me angry.
Can't wait to get my new ones.

bro that sux if that happens to mine im GONNA BE PISSED!, did you'res seem dim to you?? seems like mine dont get that bright and the blue isnt that blue. I do like em tho, its either these, or go and use my spare cluster, its a sunfire cluster from Black cat customs, silver face red lettering, and the speedo is recalibrated and it reads 140 mph.

I wasn't too unhappy with the brightness - have you tried all of the settings?
Yeah, I hope yours end up OK.
No one should have to live like this...its depressing.

Are you 100% sure that's the face? The reason i ask is i have this faceon my cav:
Mine bubbled like yours did, so I chanced it & pulled off the clear cover. That's all it was, a cover. Just like the protective film that are on new watches.
That cover is stuck on pretty good, but it did
NOT take off any of the design. Only difference it made is my gauges now are glossy instead of a matt finsh
Yeah I am gonna have to give it one last shot...
I'm pullin' the pod this weekend.
damnit.

It must be the adhesive they are using because mine did the exact same thing. I email them a few times with regards to the issue and even about ordering a new one. I never received a response from them. I even tried pulling the clear cover off but it seemed to leave a white-ish powder look. It looked bad. So I purchased my new one through Speedhut and I will be ordering one for my gf through Speedhut as well.

This worries me. The gauges that Deadbob is showing are the exact ones I want to buy. Do they all tend to have these problems...? Considering I'm going to get them professionally installed, should I tell them ahead of time to remove the film on them?
Simple Installation Instructions for these gauges:
1. Remove Gauges from box
2. Throw Gauges in nearest garbage bin (if one is not available, use 2b)
2b. Set Gauges on fire and spread ashes into the wind
3. Call Speedhut and order new gauges
It's as easy as 1-2-3!
Had I followed these rules, I would already have good gauges instead of this horrible piece of crap. I am now waiting for Speedhut.

Overall, the gauges were not that bad. I had them in my car for about 4 months. after 3 months is when they bubbled. As I said pulling off that cover just makes the gauges glossy.
If you want to have them profesionally installed that's up to you, but it really takes all of 20 minutes.
Right now I have a Sunfire cluster in my cav, and once my bank stops playing games with my paycheck so i can pay my bills and close that account, i'll be ordering from a white face Black Cat Customs.
It would not have mattered if I had had them professionally installed. I'd like to think I know my way around my dash and gauges, and these would have done this regardless of how they were put in. It's not a matter of how they were installed - it's a matter of the materials they used to make the product.

I have an easier idea.
1. Take dash apart.
2. Take out the cluster.
3. Throw it as far as you can
4. Install new sunfire cluster
5. Put dash back together
That simple.
If you have a cav i think the sunfire cluster looks so much better. Finding them is the hard part if you have a 00+.
