Hi all,

My girlfriend just bought a used '98 cavalier with about 214k miles on it. It's not in too terrible of condition - in fact the floor boards inside and underneath are completely free of rust. The doors are a bit rusty though, and the driver door has a nice rust hole in the bottom.

But more to the point. Her passenger door will not open if you simply just pull the inside or exterior handle. Instead, you must pull on the door lock, and then pull on the handle, at which point it will open. I pulled off the door panel yesterday and it seems like all the handle linkage works correctly - but almost like the door lock rod isn't going back far enough to be unlocked at the actual latch.

Anyone have this issue before and/or have an idea of how I should go about fixing it?
