OK, so i have seached and searched but i havent found much useful info, and i think the newer cluster look way cleaner,so my questions are as follows;
1) Is the swap possible
2) i have a digital odometer right now so will the milage be the same
3) is it just a plug and play or will i have to cut and splice the wires?
any help will be greatly apprecitated!

1) its possible, cluster is same size
2) IIRC late 1998-1999 clusters have the mileage stored on the cluster themselves, and 2000+ have it stored on the vehicles BCM (if I am wrong, please correct me)
3) IMO Id say youd have to splice some wires.

That helps alot, so the milage wont be the same or can you swap out the odometers? and if i have to splice wires i dont think so, i can work on a engine but not wires

i'm pretty sure you have to rewire the entire car for it to work. look into swapping to the 95-99 sunfire once. you can get away with just trimming some of the dash to get it to fit and you'd have to just splice a new harness for it.

well, i bought i overlay from my buddy that fits an 00-02 and i was just going to swap the cluster, but i guess i will just sell the overlay and buy the right one! Thanks a bunch Guys

yea, 00+ clusters wont directly swap in (unless you wire in the BCM and new cluster plugs)
95-99 Sunfire Clusters can be swapped into 95-99 Cavs....... but it takes some wiring..... they use different plugs.

imagine this...
ripping your entire interior out unplug everything. rip out all the wires. i mean everything.
now your left with a shell take your junker (a must if your doing this, and yes i mean an entire car. ) and swap everything *wires modules the works* and put them in your shell....

Even if you DID do this, since the mileage is stored in the clust for the 99's or below, and the 2k+ cars keep the mileage in the BCM, if you DID attempt this swap, your car would then show the mileage from the donor car. I'm not certain, but that can be considered odometer fraud.

I need to do this swap. Im going from a 97 dash harness to a 00+ dash harness+ bcm. I just want to know if anybody recently completed this and how it went? Just trying to see what im getting into.
