I checked the fuse and it was fine, I replaced it just in case. The plungers in the doors are in fine shape and work, what else could it be?

Mine's a little freaky too. It stays on for about 5 mins, then goes off, but comes back on at random times and for no apparent reason.
No guys, I am no noob to Cavaliers. The switch is not up which is why I am assuming it may be the plunger. If not it must be a short somewhere.

I own a '99 Cavalier Z24 coupe. I am also having a problem with my interior light. It stays on all the time. Maybe shuts off after hours of sitting. The ON switch is not "on", and the dimmer switch for the guage cluster still works, when I do put the done light in the ON postion is still stays on. I did do the plugger thing as suggested above, and the right side makes it turn off till I lock the doors. And the left side when I open the door the light turns off sometimes, but remains on while door is closed. But as soon as I lock the doors with the power door lock remote the light stays on. Ive also tried with the manual lock button, no results. Taken the dash apart and the switches are all hooked up at the dimmer.
My door lock remote is also hooked in through the same circut the dome light fuse is on, so I cant unlock my doors without my remote. As more problems arise my radio is ALSO wired throught the same f'ing fuse. So even if I want to pull the fuse while im driving, i can, but then i get no music whatsoever. Please help.
I have a similar problem.
I have a 2005 cavalier. The dome light stays on for about an hour when car is turned off. The dome light also stays on when backing up. It goes off when driving forward, but it comes back on when you stop. Does anyone know what is going on, and how to fix it.
I had a bad switch once... if you disconnect it, and the light does go off.. there's your problem.

That sounds to me like a failed driver plunger

this happen to me, the plunder thing in my door works sometimes, then i hit a bump and it thinks the door is open when its fully closed....quick fix, i removed the light bulb
hey everyone, i know this is a old post but i just bought a 1997 Z24 and im having a whole crap load of eletrical problems, first off my drivers side fog light doesnt work and nethier does the signal on the bumper, also my interior lights randomly come on and the door pinger goes off, and it happens at random times, but when i pull the fues out for the interior lights out for about 5 minutes and put it back in the lights go off, the person who had it befor me was apprently a "mechanic" yeah my foot he was a mechanic he was a chop artist, also the stock alarm system was removed and a viper one was installed my this "mechanic" would that have anything to do with it? also i changed the connector for the fog light because it had some corossion inside it and when i stripped the wires they were black instead of a nice shiny copper colour, could that mean my harness is messed? would that cause the random electrical problems im having? and if it is the harness how do i go about replacing it? im asuming its a pretty lenghty process, so for all of the questions guys im just really stuck here i have no idea what it could be! please help me if you guys can! thanks so much!!!
I think you should start a new topic listing all your issues, mate.
