i got a 99 tachless cavy and was wondering would a cluster with a tach fit and work?
Yes, from another 99 only. If yours is a digital odometer.
Analog odometer is 95-98.
Digital odometer is 99, and a special order 98.

These are Cavaliers, you don't need to do that. Go to Autozone and get a big ass cheap tach, and mount that on top of your dash board. Don't forget the shift light.

Yes if you can find a 99 digital odometer with a tach it should be plug-n-play.

Partially correct. A 96-98 will work fine except for the gas gauge, which will just show full all the time. I had a 96 cluster in my 99 cavalier for almost two years.
