I've got a 95 2.2L Ohv with a cluster with no tach, ive got a cluster from a 2000 Z24 with a tach, will it fit and will the tach work without adaptor? Also do i need an adaptor to read the RPM? at my school i brought my car in and he hooked it up to his scanner (8000 dollar scanner) and it plugged to the obd port and it was able to tell my RPMs, is there a way to hook up to that??
and i was wanting to buy the 2 or 3 guage pillar pods, whats the cheapest i can find them with guages? anyone have experience with them?
The 2000+ cluster will not work(different electronics). But if you get a 95 cluster with a tach it should be plug and play. I say should, because it works for the later years(96+) but in 95 they were still OBD1.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
95 was obd 1.5 it was the old program new plug I believe there was other crap changed too. But don't quote me on that. The tach will work 95-97 for sure 98-99 you will have issues with the odometer because the digital odometer reads from the bcm you mechanical one is not compatible.00+ just plain wont work.
k thanks i will try junk yards or ebay
or do i even need a tah adaptor for this year? my dads 95 chev s10 same motor had a tach lead, i have an extra tach laying around, i dont wanna pull apart the dash and be disappointed
The easiest way will be to find a '95 cluster with a tach. Unless the tach you have laying around has a 2 cyl setting, you'll need an Autometer 9117 Tach Adapter. They can be had for $40 or so used or $70ish new. Don't bother with the RKsport adapter, I tried both used and new and they were junk.
ook thanks, i found one on ebay for like 45 i might buy
theres also a tach output in ur underhood fuse block u could try. pretty sure u need a dis adapter tho. i have a tripple pod ide sell but no gauges,
