First interior project (ever) lol
Monday, August 23, 2010 11:19 PM
Just started on this sunday...I figure the biggest thing will be a couple more coats of white and some clear coat on the lower dash pieces. The center console was out getting worked on in the second picture, will get updated pics soon.
Getting ready to order stock interior black carpet and reupholstering the seats rather than crappy covers.
Opinions? suggestions? Ideas for seats or anything else...I'm all ears.

Glad to be here at J-body

Paint the fuse panel cover and the vents black. Other than that, it's not bad.

Epicness is coming. Are you ready?

I had thought about it, you don't think it would be too over bearing?

no since the rest of the lower dash is white.

for seats if your'e looking for a diff seat all together try 3rd gen f-body seats. otherwise re-upholster them like you stated.

it actually looks pretty damn decent. i'm surprised. nice work.

go with the suggestions above. paint the fuse cover and vents black, and then pull your lower dash and paint the underside of the dash, and the right side by the glove box door so its a two tone blac/white combo. leave it as is and it just looks like you were too lazy to pull the dash to do the job right.

Yea even though the dash was pulled I see what you're saying...appreciate the feedback. Pulling everything out Sunday again to do some touch-ups, another layer, and clear coating, as well as headliner and rear work. I'll try go get more pics up. Loving the suggestions, glad I decided to actually join up rather than lurking.

Damn fine work, sir. Definitely do the lower dash, I would do the F body seat swap rather than reupholster what you have. Easier, cheaper and they look better IMO. Welcome to the org, definitely post some more pics, get some exterior shots!

Not bad progress at all for not even having the car a month! your white 'fire reminds me of mine, my rims were similar, though it was a vert. Anyway, do you have any performance mods in store, or just cosmetic?

Really have no idea where to start with performance mods....as I haven't looked into them much. So right now cosmetic mostly. Being a 2.2 I doubt there's much to do to it short of an engine swap is there?

In my honest opinion, I like the white-on-black vents. And do paint under the steering wheel to give it a sleek, flawless look. I have a black 95 'fire that im planning on modding, and i was gonna go with blue-on-black with the vents, and maybe do it up like you did.

On another note, I'm planning on replacing my stock stereo also, and you said that GM didnt put in an ignition wire...? Am I going to have to rig up a power switch like you did?

You can either do that, or you just have to turn it off manually each time before you get outta the car. Unless I'm 100% wrong and there is another way. But I've had a mechanic look at the factory schematics and said there wasn't one.

Brandon, I hear you on the performance mods. my '04 doesnt have any mods aside from a short ram intake. I'd recommend getting one, really easy to install, and you'll notice a good boost in mid and high range acceleration. Other than that, Im working on a decent suspension upgrade (eibach springs, koni yellows, front and rear sway bars) and I might do a cat back exhaust once the stock one takes a @!#$. Still, its hard to do the mods you want to do when working in a limited budget. Best of luck with the rest of the paint. That car is gonna be tits once you ditch the @!#$ty tan interior for black.

Yea I figure I'm going to run the engine dead then swap it out when I get to that point.

New steering wheel eventually, looking at different ones. If the white gets to be a hassle, it's easily changeable, I like the look of it too much not to give it a shot. I'm generally the only one in my car so the passenger side shouldn't be an issue keeping clean...the only white is the bottom dash and top of the center console, the back panels are going to be black.

Didn't get as much done as I had hoped, drivers door panel, def learned from my mistakes but it's not terribad.

going to work on passenger and finish the dash soon I hope, work's been a b*tch, so has the weather. Also got the headliner done, still working out the kinks on the sun visors, will get more pics by Sunday.

Again, thanks for all the feedback and sorry the pics are a little dark.
