Cobalt SS seats in 99 Cav
Thursday, June 24, 2010 8:40 PM
Today I got my hands on the driver and front passenger seats out of a cobalt ss.

I know it is possible with a bunch of fabrication to fab a custom bracket to fit the cavalier track, but I was wondering if there was just a place I could purchase an adapter bracket so I don't have to trust in my personal welding and fab skills (which aren't too great).

Also, there are wires attached for heated seats. Is there any way I can hook these up to a switch to put in my center console or in my dash? They'd be nice to hook up for the winter.

Simple answer, you are going to have to custom make some brackets..to my knowledge, there is no aftermarket adapter out there.

There was actually a really good write up on here (most likely in this forum) a few months back, the OP even posted up diagrams with measurements, along with tons of pics of how he made his brackets. Search and I'm sure you'll come across it.

I've done two sets of Cobalt seats for Cavaliers, the biggest challenge you'll have is the difference in mounting height, and the fact that cav seats have all 4 posts mounted to the floor pan for the bracket to bolt to, where as the Cobalt does not. It's not at all impossible thought.

Even if your welding skills aren't up to par, come up with a design and just tack weld everything temporarily til you get it all adjusted and fit properly, then have someone with more experience finish up the welding for you.

Its really not that hard. the hardest part was getting them the rite height to slide on there tracks and not fetch up in the tub or on the seat belt hold down. just so they skim the carpit worked for me it took us about 3 hours, i wish there was a cord to hook up the heated seats thatd be nice. i don't have any fab pics on my car domain but i have some of the seats if you wanna take a peak. i defiantly love them tho and well worth the effort. you will have to grind your seat belt clip down to make it fit in the ss fastener tho but it's not hard. good luck
