I dont know what it is lately, but I and my g/f have been getting zapped when we get out of the car, l think its coming from the screws in the armrest where you grab to shut the door, anybody else getting a little zapped?
It's called static electricity.

1999 Grand AM SE (Beater Car)
1997 GMC Sierra
2007 Honda CBR 600RR
2005 Honda TRX450R
My Z does that to me from time to time. I hate getting shocked lol
Honestly, I get zapped when I drive EVERY time. I don't know if its my shoes or something but it literally happens everytime. I've just gotten use to it, its kind of funny how it always happens now.

they make things called lightning straps, easy to make to, just a peice of rubber atached to the body of your can long enough to touch the ground while your driving, great safty item also, no static ,no shock at the pump, no fire, and... no shock when you get out
I use to hate that shock also but ever since I've become an electrician, the door shock feels a million times better than 277, 480 VAC. Use the ground strap method or like stated above, grab the door before your feet touch the ground. Problem solved.
People can't learn common sense. You're born with it. Either you have it or you just don't!
I think this related to headlight wiring. I had the typical, "my headlights dont light up together" problem. I wired my own temporary harness and switch and started getting shocked. I thought it was my harness, but it turned out once the new OEM harness from donor car was installed, and the ground was secure, POOF, no shocks. If your lights still work fine, check on your wiring, it could be ready to buy the farm.
i get zapped hard sometimes! i loose my high or get mad and start talking to my car...
anyhow i'll try that metal b4 foot thing
Ain't Nothing To it But To Do IT!!!

hahaha that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. 99.9% of the time it is your ass dragging on the seat as you get out. Happens in every single car with cloths seats. I had the issue in my cavalier but never in any other vehicle that had pleather or micro fiber seats.
OP jsut touch the door as you get out problem solver.

This has been brought up many times before.
- No there is nothing wrong with your car
- No you don't have un-realized power
- Complete waste of time when you can simply exit your vehicle without shock
- In complete disbelief you could live on this planet for 40 years and not know what causes this by now
i just drag a ground rod behind my car and when i get to where im parking i have someone pound it into the ground before i get out. works every time.

I just went to wal-mart, got out of car and zap! Shocked. It's been happening quite a bit lately
I heard this happens when the car isn't happy with it's owner. Give it a good pass at the car wash, an oil change, clean your air filter (or replace it) and that should tame it back down.
