Hey all, Ive noticed that there aren't a whole lot of write ups on here as far as certain mods go pertaining to the interior and the few write ups that are around are outdated with pics and links being broken which isn't very helpful at all! any-who Ive also noticed a few people ask about changing their OEM Steering wheel with a nicer after market one but people keep saying the same old thing "check eBay!" well if we'd all stop being eBay whores for a second and actually look around you'll never know the awesome goodies you could be getting with out having to deal with what might be on eBay at the right time or if some one is going to out bid you for it, well I didn't come on here to complain about the various reasons why I hate eBay but rather to submit some good info that may help anyone looking to install a nicer steering wheel setup in their car. So basically your going to need Three things to upgrade your steering setup, a nice steering wheel(duH!), a hub adapter, and an airbag simulator ( if you plan on keeping the passenger airbag). From all the info Ive gathered after hours upon hours of searching the interwebz Ive come to the conclusion that there 2 different kinds of setups you can get for our cars (84-02 cavaliers), being (what I like to call) the "Momo Setup", or the "Nrg Setup" The main difference between these two is having the whole "quick release" option/luxory. The "Momo Setup" consists of just a hub, and after market steering wheel. The "Nrg Setup" consists of a short hub then a quick release assembly, and then the steering wheel. Either setup are both great IMO just which one you get is entirely up to you and your personal preferance I myself would rather do the "Nrg Setup" just because I like the look of it and I dig the whole quick release option. Both options require 6 hole pattern steering wheels however there is a third option to have a 5 hole and that requires buying the Grant Hub which is a 5 hole pattern which also will go with the NRG quick release system but you have to buy their " 5 hole " version and you must use a 5 hole steering wheel which isnt as widely available as 6 hole wheels are. Of course because I actually care here are all the most recent links to find these fine products.
*NOTE* when buying the Nrg short Hub the one you want is part number SRK-170H or the "Dodge" hub on their website and a few others but this will also fit chevys including camaros, vettes, and 84-02 cavaliers. So as long as you buy the Nrg Hub with part no: Srk-170h it should fit our cars.

Just gotta remember that some 03's it wont work...gotta check your build date.
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
that MOMO hub will also fit the 95's to 05 its the exact same part number, i almost bought one but found that Sparco was a bit cheaper. But now that i have an actual MOMO steering wheel i'm kicking my self in the ass for not getting the MOMO hub cause you NEED the MOMO hub for the for the horn to fit at all.. So be ware if you are buying a MOMO steering wheel YOU NEED A MOMO STEERING WHEEL ADAPTER.
well I was told that cavaliers 03+ these hubs may not work, something about gm slightly adjusting the steering column shaft to be slightly smaller so if you tried to install it it may skip teeth when you try to turn your wheel. However Im not 100% on this its just what was told to me if anyone could shed some light on that specific subject that would be nice because I know some of us including myself are lucky to have an 03 cav that was built in 02 (mine was 9/02) so we have same steering column shaft as 2002 and earlier.

this is 100% true, although to my knowledge no one as found any rime or reason to which cars got what
the shaft splines are similar although the diameter is noticeably smaller
So you have to buy the momo hub and the quick release? which steering wheels work with the momo and nrg quick release setups?
You dont need a NRG quick release, it's just an option if you want to take your wheel off quickly. All 6 bolt steering wheel work with the Momo hub.

yes If you want just a simple steering wheel setup then get a Momo Hub and Any 6 hole wheel you may like, however if you want the option of being able to take your wheel off and on then you should buy the nrg short hub and quick release setup.

Got into an argument with a distributor about the shorthub yesterday after making the mistake of telling the guy I had a 2002 cavalier. He was like "NRG doesn't make a short hub for that year you know right? The spline is smaller on your car." I was like yeah apparently NRG didn't research the car well because the 03+ has the smaller spline and i know of a few people that have them and he insisted it didn't fit after calling NRG and I was like listen guy, order me the part, if I can't fit it, I'll sell it to someone, but I garuntee you it fits and I'll prove you wrong and show you when I set it up. And he just keep arguing with me until I said I was gonna go through someone else. Then he was real quick to make some money.
Also heard that about the 03's as well.. anyway, GREAT post fashow, MUCH appreciated!!
Thank you!
my nrg qucik disc. fits and I have a 04!
