Anyone know what I could use for hydraulic trunk lifters to replace the crappy stock hinges? Found these for the hood, cant seem to find for the trunk...

Get the trunk hinges off a vert J.

I thought I read somewhere that the supports for these had to be welded... Not complaining, just wondering, if this is the best solution, in case I might need to have somebody do some welding.

I'm curious....whats the difference with the vent and non vert hinges? What is the reason for swapping them??

its is a bolt on affair.
no they aren't. You will either need to modify the mounting bracket to move the holes forward. They hit the trunk jam if you try to just bolt them in.
JuicyJ has a set on his sedan that he had welded in as well.

To me i think it was purely for room, The verts use a scissor hinge setup with hydraulic strut because I don't think they have the room for the arm to swing back when closing the trunk like sedans/coupes. but i don't know for certain, that is just all I could come up with.
Here are some pics of the vert hinges in James' sedan

vert trunk hinges are in no way shape or form anything even close to being bolt on.....
stand corrected then... always thought they were .
so did i when i paid good bucks for a set, painted em and took my trunk off the night before the bash only to hold them up to see it wasn't even remotely the same (bolting to the car, bolts to the trunk no problem.) haha
i'm needing to figure a way out to make struts work tho with my heavy ass trunk, if u make something poster up!
yea vert hinges are the way to go ... with my new spoiler (center piece weighs a ton) it has no trouble staying open at any angle.
Like said they would need to be welded. I almost bought a set off line but man am I glad i didnt. I found a set at a junk yard then campared them . Not even close
I can agree with those that say that it would need a weld job. They are just about 1- 1 1/4 in forward than the bar bracket. (I think) I like them better so I don't have to worry if my 6x9 are gonna hit the bar when I'm installing them.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried the "drill hole and use nuts and bolts" trick with this or is welding a better option?
THE KIT ONLINE COMES W THE FRONT AND BACK?
AM I SAVING WEIGHT OR ADDING?
