b&m shift knobs
Sunday, February 14, 2010 7:42 AM
just a few questions about shift knobs. i have a fidanza short shift. ive tried several times to get the stock knob off and it wont come off so ill probably have to ruin it trying to get it off. so my questions are. will any b&m knob fit a fidanza short shifter? does the shift knob have to be made specifically for the reverse lockout? can a short shifter be isntalled on a cavalier without the reverse lock out??

thanks

i ordered mine from megan racing. it came with the reverse lockout but i rigged it to stay up. i hated having to lift it all the time. and even after i rigged it you still cant go from 5th to reverse. you have to go to first, then reverse. i dont know why but thats how it worked out.

On the B&M shifter I'd just chop the reverse lockout tab off, pull the boot all the way up to the bottom of the knob.

I've never looked at the Fidanza shifters, but the B&M shifters take a 12 x --mm knob. On the B&M shifter there is a pin holding the reverse lockout collar on. You can remove the reverse lockout and run normal shift knobs, but they have to be the right thread size. Razo shift knobs work great on the B&M:

so does that mean you can use the b&m shifters in the 95-99's?

No, the linkages are different between the years.
