I just installed the short shifter I bought. It works great except that sometimes when i am reversing and then i want to put it into first again, it sticks and doesnt go at all. I have to really push it into 2nd and 1st until it goes, and its very annoying. It only seems to happen when first start the car up and reverse outta my driveway and sometimes it happens at stop lights going from 2nd to 1st. could this be the cold weather or the way i installed it? i dont remember it happening before on the stock one, but the car never saw a winter yet really.

here's my solution. put stock one in and whip out the sawzall! cut it down a little bit, then you have a somewhat short shifter, but you may not have the problem anymore

justin do not do what ^ he said. shortening a stock shifter does not make it a short shifter. i'm not sure what the problem with ur's is so i'll wait for someone else to chime in. but like i said......DO NOT cut down ur original shifter.
put this in the transmission or maintenance form, someone would be more likely to answer there
haha i was just saying it would be redneck as hell! haha

Pull it apart and check to see if anything is binding.

i cut my shift on my 98 and it stuck in every gear because it wasnt meant for that. this one is flawless in all the gears except 2nd to first. there was a little roller pivot ball on the left side that fell out of a hole. i dont know where it went but it looked the size of a pencil top eraser and had grease and a ball on the bottom. i didnt think it was a problem removing it because all it did was slide the shift plastic part up and down, and theres nothing there that stuck to it. i dont have that piece anymore though. can someone move this to the proper forum

Well. Usually if youre missing a piece that will cause problems.

I had that same piece fall out when I was installing mine. I forget what it does, but I do remember it was a pain to put back in. It's more than likely the cause of your problem.
