I had purchased a cluster from a respected member on Jbody. Was in EXCELLENT shape when I got it. No problems.
Unfortunately I became extremely ill. While I was in the hospital, my family had the car delivered to a shop to have the cluster put in.
He called my family a couple days later and notified them that all the lights worked on the cluster but the gauges did not operate.
Now a couple days have passed before they were able to tell me about this situation.
I am not nor have ever claimed to know anything about these cars yet. In Time I hope.
I may not have given the member all the info he needed and this is where I am asking for help...please...
I have a LD9 motor (2.4L) 2000 chevy Cavalier Z24. I believe the member said this is out of a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with the 2200.
Will I have to let this shop know of any rewiring possibilities? because of my illness, I have been banned from driving for at least 6 weeks so I have time but the shop will continue to call me
and possibly charge for the days it remains there.
Please help with any thoughts or ideas. I will so greatly appreciate it.
Please help with this anyone.
The repair shop called again and will start charging $45 per day beginning Monday Novemeber 23rd.
I know there is someone on this forum that has a suggestion or idea. I have been on here for years and
have watched and read many "complete diagnosis" posts become successful.
If I should order another cluster, thats fine to. I will do that but I just want to buy another and have the same problem I have now.
Buying from EBAY would be OK but you ask them sellers, seems as those most everyone has there own thought. Nothing consistent.
Just buy a cluster from another 2.4 ld9. Its not worth 45$ a day wondering if this one from the 2200 will work.
Good luck
so what your are saying is that this ISa 2200---2400 issue? I agree with you completely. It's not worth it to let it sit and wonder if this will ever work. But is there a pontiac sunfire cluster that will
work for my 2000 Z24? I just really like the look of the pontiac cluster vs the cavalier cluster.
u have a 2000 so from my understanding any cavalier or sunfire cluster from 2000+ should directly just clip on and there ya go...it should work...u may have to reset the passlock i think its called to get the car to start with it i know i did when i did my cluster swap in my old 97 but that was going from cavy to a another cavy cluster...it was a z24 cluster with a tach afterwards though...
2003 LS SPORT: suspension and brake upgrades for now...motor and boost coming son
2008 Cobalt SS/TC: the fast car
Being 2000+ it should be plug and play.
SUE THE SHOP!!!
j/k
Get another. They can be found relatively cheap.
Ok, thanks for all the help.
I am assuming from what I have read that everyone has posted so far that maybe I now have a bad cluster from the shop doing.
I will just get another one I guess.
I just wanted to make sure that it would work if I was to buy another one. It looked exactly like the back of the stock cavalier cluster I had
so assumption made an "ass" out of me AND "umption, so I thought.
Thanks for all the help again everyone.
I do not plan to look for another for a couple days so if anyone has anymore input, please do not hesitate to let me know.
