So I have been fixing up a 2000 Cavalier for my kid. It was hit light in the front and bags deployed. I ended up buying a parts car and swapping the air bag stuff over. The Airbag Light stayed on and the car gave a code "configuration error" I believe the code was.
I inquired at the dealer and was told the Hardware ID'd and the Vin in the BCM dont match. $100 to fix. So in the process of playing around, I swapped bcms to see if the Airbag light went out. Well the Airbag light did go out...the security light came on and the radio went into theft lock. Put the old bcm back in and all is good but the Airbag Light is back on. I know I could swap ignition cylinders or try a passkey II relearn....but what can I do about the radio ? The parts car doesn't have a cd player. Input appreciated. Thanks

Buy a radio with a cd player and install it?..

Somehow I dont think that outweighs the cost of having the dealer reprogram the BCM
you can find a nicer than stock used aftermarket cd player for 50bucks.
for the airbag light to go off after u have a crash u MUST replace ALL of the following off the SAME vechile- DR bag, Pass bag, Clock spring, And air bag module. If u don't get it from the same car u will aways have a light on
