i recently purchased a 1998 Cavalier cluster for a manual transmisson and electric odometer to match with my orginal one. i dissconnected the battery terminals and figured it was just a simple plug in ang go but i am having a issue. all the dash lights come on guages all seem to work ( gas, temp, tach) but the car immediately shuts off once it starts. then has trouble starting after and will not keep running. then i dissconnected the terminals again and returned the orginal and the car started no problem. btw needles are runined in stock cluster which is why i just didnt leave it in......i am thinking it must be some sort of theft system and does anyone one know any way around this?

Put the dash in the car shut ur door. Start the car and when the car shuts off. Dont move from were u are and dont turn the car of the theft light will blink seat in the car for 15 min with out moving just cross ur arms and wait. after 15mins are up turn the key of wait about 3 min then turn the car on it should work. if not repeat this. It needs to program the new dash into the computer.
