racing seats time chime in please!!

looking to get a set, pref. suede/cloth but leather or vinyl wouldn't hurt. will make my own brackets/modify slider so that's taken care of.
am looking for EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE on any of these. my price range is $200-250:

type R

"racing" leather

APC tweed

RSX leather

bomz

am guessing most of these will FIT my cavalier. just wondering if anybody has personal experience.
been searching craigslist and most seats are APC, type R or some other brand.
thanks!

I've broke some of the previously mentioned seats. The build quality on some of them is like a 4th grade quadraplegic.

for the price range the only ones that are problaby real leather are the rsx seats. apc went out of business for a reason i wouldnt touch those. other two are just low grade seats as well. i think i'd rather have a good quality stock seat over a low quality race "type" seat

Look up Tenzo R or Yonakas.
They make good type R style seats and are one of the best discount seats on the market.

You can also look for the following, they bolt up easily with only minor modifications required:

Gen 1 Toyota MR2 seats (I have one. They're very good functionally)
DC2 or newer Integra Seats.
Civic SI hatchback (from the year 2002+)

Good luck.

am liking the tenzo Rs. yonakas are that leather feel so am staying away.
i have seen some civic si seats and like them a lot, even the celica gts ones. just have to find a deal that's withing a decent driving range.

thanks for the input!

i would not go with anything but racing style OEM seats from another car like RSX, BMW seats are nice, someHondas, Recaro makes stock seats too or a name brand like Sparco, Cobra, Momo, etc. Put it this way if you get rear ended and the seat snaps off at any point and your back gets @!#$ up you will be regreting it your entire life. I had a set of Garage Pro seats from JC Whitney about 4 months after having them the reclining gear in them broke when i gt into the car and fall straight back. If that had happend when i was in a accident my back would be worse then it is now. I would not cheap out on seats for safty reasons. I know this sounds like im preachin but its the truth and i'd hate for someone else to have to live with back pain like me if it can be avoided.

find OEM seats you think are asthetically pleasing for the look/feel your going for then look in the classifieds of forums supporting those rides.
